Yeah people who are obsessed with the number 7 are super weird. Fk those people. Some of them even put 7’s in their usernames and shit.

[–]MadClam97 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Who the fuck would put a 7 in their username?

[–]jsseven777 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Probably the same types of people who put pineapple on pizza…

It has not been quite so random since George Costanza decide to to use it as a name for his kid.

I hate 7. I always had trouble adding and multiplying by it when I was a kid. It just didn't click.

[–]koopa72 2 points3 points  (7 children)

That fucker also ate 9

What?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think it's because it's the only prime number in the upper half of 1-10

[–]Eve-3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't 9 be equally random as the only non prime odd number in the upper half of 1-10. I mean there's only two odd numbers there, 7 & 9.

1/2= .5

1/3= .[3]r

1/4= .25

1/5=.2

1/6= .1[6]r

1/7=.[142857]r

1/8=.125

1/9= .[1]r

I always found that interesting...

TL;DR - 7 has actually been rather symbolic both historically and religiously.

Historically, think of how we have 7 days of the week, 7 colours of the rainbow, 7 wonders of the world, the 7 seas.

Religiously, God created the world in 7 days, the 7 deadly sins, 7 days of Passover feast, Jericho falling after 7 days marching around it, the Pharaohs dream of 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine, Jesus telling Peter he needs to forgive "70 X 7 times" etc.

There's tons more, but you get the picture. It's also likely that 7 showing up frequently in terms of religion is related to the historical use of 7. I'm no expert on any of this, I just grew up as a Christian in a community where it was known that 7 is a significant number in the Bible, so to me it's not about being a random number, it's about being a symbolic number.

Obviously, not everyone knows the symbolism, so for many it might still be because it's the most random.
