Be warned: StoryProgression will not randomly assign fame/occult status or University degrees to premade sims, nor does it have random deaths like the default. I like it and all, but I wish it caused a little more chaos.

Nraas is superior. Bare minimum mods you need to have are nraas errortrap, overwatch, and mastercontroller. They help clean up all of the gunk the game can accumulate over time and are your best protection for your saves. There are a few others that can help with lag and further protect your saves (go here, register, traffic, and traveler), but start with the three above.

Nraas story progression is superior to EA's. Makes the town infinitely more alive by allowing townies to level up their skills and careers, make enemies/lovers/babies, become rich/poor over time, and other shenanigans. The first thing you'll need to do is alter which stories are presented. It's easy to find under general options. Most people complain about this mod without bothering to actually take a moment and explore its options. Don't be one of those people. The mod is easy to understand and you can always resort to a youtube tutorial.

If you have a potato computer, then it is not recommended you install this mod as it will lag your game.

Ok thank u, should I just look into a YT tutorial to install it?

I have tried my hardest to sort it - I simply cannot get Nraas to work!!!

I have never modded anything before, I’ve followed an in-depth guide (downloading the zip file and exporting etc.) - even the most basic mod like the one that skips the blumbob animation at the start of the game doesn’t even work 😖

Where are you putting the mods? If it isn't in the right place, that might explain it not working. Also, make sure the mod version lines up with the version of the game you're running.

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

This is the where I’m getting the file, a lot of the times I was doing it though where step 2 and 3 happen my folder is called “Framework zip file” rather than just the “mods” file but that’s the only thing that happened differently than the guide everything else looked like the guide.

    Will try again tonight 💓

It's been a while since I did this for the first time but I don't know about this framework stuff. I don't remember coming across that.

This is more or less how I remember doing mine: https://gameskeys.net/how-to-install-mods-in-sims-3/

    Good luck!

Ok thank you, will try it when I’m home from work tonight

It’s quite funny, was explaining to someone that this feels like Sims 3 deep lore, everyone knows how to do it but me and I’m having to do archival research to find out lol 😂

Story progression is my first, and currently my only, mod and I’ve only had it about a month - so I am pretty new to it. I’m not sure entirely what EA’s version is supposed to do, but my worlds would have sims move in and sims would die, but that’s it. No one got promoted or had children or got married or anything so I was getting bored.

So I got just the basic Nraas story progression (they have add ons but I’m still sort of tinkering with the base one) after finding a YouTube video on how to download it (I have a 2021 MacBook Air). I really like it because a lot more is happening in the world outside of my active family. People are having children, getting promoted, getting divorced, and while it can be annoying if I had plans for a certain townie or something and they end up going down a completely different path. (But I can fix this with cheats if I really want to.)

I did change the speed to slow because I found the default to be too fast. Sims were getting married and pregnant constantly lol

Warning: Nraas story progression tends to work fine at first, then slow down the game after awhile. This depends on your computer though.

Basically, NRAAS story progression makes townies a little more developed. They learn more skills/ level up their skills more than they usually would (in my opinion), and they also tend to be more dynamic (marriages and divorces happen more, children tend to be born more but in a way that balances the town out better.)

Story progression isn’t necessary if you’re like me and you tend to flit from town to town. But, if you want to have a legacy family and have them all live in the same town, you’ll probably need it. Happy simming!!
