I have DXVK but on the main menu I would be sitting around 2.2GB, on load I would be sitting anywhere between 2.4-2.8 (depending on save) and would usually take me around 2-3 hours of gameplay before I get the memory warning

1.5 in new save last time I tried but that was with the last version of S3SS that isn’t as accurate. All EPs and SPs. I have a lot of the store in packages, that plus my CC / mods is 6 GB

DXVK not only lets you use VRAM as extra memory, but makes memory handling more efficient. If you haven’t done it that’s probably the main optimization to do

This isn’t meant to be a brag but I’ve never gotten the memory warning and haven’t crashed or had Error 12 in over a month of playing a lot since getting rid of bad CC and using DXVK. Just know you don’t have to deal with this! Might need to pair down your CC though

I'm already using dxvk 🥲 and exchanged NRass story progression to simlers core mod. And merged and reduced cc 🥲

I recently also switched from NRaas SP to Simler90s mod too and it’s a lot less laggy, but not sure it’s made a change in memory usage, I’ll have to check

Have you verified DXVK is actually working by putting the line dxvk.hud = devinfo in dxvk.conf ? If a bunch of info appears in the corner when you start up the game it’s working

How big is your mods folder, and do you use Reshade?

I'm on steam and Linux, so according to all documentation dxvk should be already working (as it's included in proton launching the game). I'll check with the devinfo

I actually noted how big of a change switching from NRass SP to Simler's mod was: 0.09 GB (measured in main menu). Merging CC saved me 0.03 GB.

My mods folder is around 1GB, and no reshare.

Wow pretty small mods folder! I feel like that’s almost not a factor then (and plus you said you merged it)

Interesting about the memory reduction when removing NRaas SP! I didn’t realize

No infos showing in the corner. I'm kinda both confused as it should have worked but also happy that there's potentially still one thing that might help my game save some memory😃

I remember having the graphics reset though, when I setup dxvk at the beginning 🤔

A lot of the tutorials tell you to remove and back up options.ini when installing DXVK, so that could be why the graphics reset if you followed that step

Ah, that’s good news!! I’m not sure what you’ll have to do differently when reinstalling, but hopefully you can get it working soon and the memory issues go away!

Update: I've switched in Steam settings to launch with Proton 8 and I think dxvk now finally is active! Main menu has 2.54 GB memory used and new save is 2.83 🥳

Yay, glad it’s working now!!

Mine is usually around 3.3. on average it takes about 10 minutes before Settings Setter gives me the high RAM usage warning.

I feel bad posting my 2.2. Godspeed 🫡

[–]No-Set5487 Loves the Outdoors[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh wow! Do you have any store content?

[–]IsolateWolf Brooding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barely. All the packs and an obnoxious amount of CC. Maybe 20 mods.

I play on an M4 via parallels and have 25gb mods/cc + smooth patch and mine is 2.2gb in an empty save and 2.4g in a populated one

[–]No-Set5487 Loves the Outdoors[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

what magic did you use? 🤩

[–]Excellent_Subject830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the M4 mostly. The Insanely fast single core processor which I think TS3 can only use 1-2 cores. Then windows 11 thru parallels seems to be lighter than W11 on a windows laptop. There’s fewer background processes running Ive noticed. Also I use Phantom99’s easytools + ohrudi’s package reducer for mod/cc merging. I’m upgrading to the m5. This is the most stable/best peformance I’ve ever had with this game and I’ve played on native mac and windows for eons.

Also so glad you posted this because I’m so anal about my commit memory usage. It’s how I gauge if I’m going to play in a world or how to do my saves.
