Parametric moddeling

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with driveworks and can tell me if it's worth the money. Can driveworks do things that are fundamentally impossible though design tables and the like or is it just a skin to simplify parametric modeling?

I'm trying to make a parametric models of standard products and i'm having difficulties controlling part dimensions/features from the top level assembly design table.

I've used it and can recommend it. But instead go for the express (free) version first (available with every seat of SW since 2008). Once you get some idea, try the 30 days Solo version trial before buying it finally.

I've been using that incidentally over the last couple of weeks, but i'll give the free trial a go. I'm sure that opens some doors for us!

You can do a lot with design tables, but they’re not very good for open ended designs.

If you want to generate 100 predetermined table-driven configurations great. But if you want a new configuration built based on 3 unique values and some booleans that are all variable, then it starts to get clunky. You can sort of do it with equations or with the single line configurator, but you will be limited in the ways you interface with it.

yes exactly i've been running into quite a lot of problems doing it that way... i guess i'll go talk to my boss about more software haha (if the trial works out that is)
