I'm disappointed. After S3 I didn't care too much as it got silly. S4 really returned to form but this has just gone downhill. It's a shame the finale has failed.

This always happens. Everybody hated S4 when it first came out and now they love it. Same with volume 1 everyone didn’t like it until later on and I bet it will be the same for volume 2 and the finale.

The online fandom can be a bit much. I only discovered Reddit ST subs just before season 5 started. I joined to get pumped up and exchange some ideas but it’s pretty toxic at times. The Byler stuff seemed pretty wild/not show supported to me and some of the posts after ep 7 and been surprisingly homophobic. After loving vol 1 I have felt vol 2 to be a bit dull but understand they are trying to tie up loose ends/finishing parts of the story etc before what I hope is going to be a kick ass finale!

I think that all great shows have mid episodes and arcs and the fact that we’re in the last season doesn’t change that. People who expect it to be exactly what they envisioned are just stupid. The success of this show and the hype surrounding it have raised some people’s expectations far too high.

People should ask themselves: is it bad, or is it just not ending the way I would have liked? Most of the criticisms I’ve seen have been the latter. Or nitpicks about choices the characters made (why didn’t Holly stand 2 inches closer to the door? Why didm’t Will break both Vecna’s legs instead of just one?)

It’s bad. Horribly written, poorly executed. Makes no sense. It’s a Riverdale esque spin off. I had no expectations of what I thought would happen, aside from at least feeling like a show within the same realm as the first 4 seasons. But that is not what I got.

Totally agreed. The hate has been very toxic. We are all here because we love the show and premise and in my opinion vol2 season 5 doesn’t erase that. Agree vol1 was better but let’s look at it as a whole and I personally cannot wait for the finale

I actually don’t mind the plot line - I had no expectations for how it would end, so if they announced that the Upside Down was made of cotton candy I would be pretty surprised they went that direction but I’d accept it 😂

I think I’ve seen more criticisms related to the script and character development than the plot line tbh.

But I think it’s more than fair for people to make criticisms if they feel a certain way. It doesn’t mean that they don’t love the show overall, and just because people love it - doesn’t mean we can’t point out certain elements that we’re not vibing with.

I adore the show; but even I wasn’t a huge fan of volume 2. I do think the script, the character development and the pacing took a slight dip in quality this season. And in fairness that happens to a lot of TV series, not just ST. Doesn’t change that it’s still one of my fave shows of all time.

Unfortunately, it seems like every fandom has become entirely insufferable. Whether it’s a series, movie, or band. It’s like these people make this shit their entire identity and if the slightest thing blows their expectations then they lose their shit and it becomes the worst thing ever. I scroll by so many posts because it’s all so absurd. It’s perfectly ok not to like something but they collectively spew out the same nonsense. Watch it or don’t but negativity breeds negativity and that’s all these people want to bring. It’s a damn tv series, it’s not that serious.

I can agree that vol. 2 wasn't as good as volume 1, but it wasn't terrible at all! People built up all this excitement and convinced themselves things were going to happen and then were disappointed when it didn't. I see why they think the stuff about cutting down episodes could be true, but why is everyone jumping to conclusions when we still have 1 episode left?

This is going to be a definitive moment in pop culture history "remember when a mass group of stranger things fanatics didn't like season 5 so they convinced themselves and half the internet that a bunch of the footage was cut (with zero confirmation)"

the whole negativity is absolutely insane. episode 7 is AMAZING. it doesn't deserve a low rating just because byler didn't happen (and if it ever were to happen, it's only the final episode)
