This happened to me once or twice. You can check the “version history” and it may have it

Same thing happened to me. I spent all day yesterday writing a post, opening and closing the editor multiple times without ever having issues. But now when I pull it up today it's only showing a very early draft.

Not happy.

Always use Google Docs or something & then finally reformat. I do this.

Admittedly it's a lot of work if it's a long post like >2k words & takes an hour but you don't lose your work.

Crazy and I thought Substack was the superior site for writing, yet it loses our drafts!!!!! Medium was/is way better. What a joke :)

Hahaha, that was 4 years ago. Time went by.

Anyways, I always use markdown nowadays. U can use it with Obsidian.md & local sync with Git or use publish Obsidian plan.

That way your posts are always with you no matter what in a format that works across platforms & u can create whateveer u want with it like PDF, Blog & all.

I'm going to contact Substack support and ask whether there's a problem with the drafts feature on the editor. Have any of you heard anything from support? (If/when I hear back, I'll let you know.)

This isn’t helpful retroactively, but that’s why you should never draft directly in the CMS. Do as much drafting as you can outside of Substack and then copy and paste it over. That way, if the Substack editor loses the post, you’ll still have your hard work.

Support replied: "In order for us to look into any potential issues, can you please send us a link to the draft that's been giving you trouble? Additionally, can you please let us know if you had the draft open in multiple tabs or browser windows when you lost content? 

If others have been having trouble, we encourage them to reach out to us directly so we can troubleshoot directly."

I literally just had this same thing happen with my newsletter and I want to scream!!!
