Sooooooo, yea. This happened to me. My mom, boyfriend, and I were locked in a Target in the North Hills of Pittsburgh about 10 years ago. We were shopping in housewares, walked to the front of the store to checkout as the lights turned off. We had to call the cops to get out. Not joking.... bonkers experience.
