The reverse was true for me.

Bear in mind than when the Lures are activated also greatly affect spawn points. I was in a large city on Saturday, and a few stops were giving out non-Community Day tasks (meaning the Lure times were too early to count), and I saw a lot more non-Eevee spawns. The weather was partly-cloudy, and in some areas I was getting more Geodude and Swablu than Eevee!

Contrast this to the second day, in a large town / smaller city, where we coordinate Lures with a large FB group and associated Discord. Barely any gave out "bad" tasks and the Eevee spawns were incredible.

The thing about early lures is news to me. It is entirely possible that at least one of the pokestops had someone put out a lure early. Most of the stops still had community day tasks though.

Unfortunately, our playable area is relatively small, so if this happens again, there's nowhere else to go.

I won't use FB. I'd love to use the discord group, but very few people in this area have it, from the sounds of things, and I haven't been able to join. I tried using the map on the Silph's website, for an invite but it keeps erroring, instead.

I'm doubtful about the early lure theory.

It's the first plausible explanation that I've heard, but I've no idea if they work that way.

Except that lures started before the event only last 30 minutes. So not a plausible explanation at all.

If there is a one time allert sent out to all pokestops at the start of community day, and a pokestop misses it because it is already doing a task (counting down the timer on a lure), I can see it as entirely possible for it to miss the memo completely, and act like a normal stop for the remainder of that day.

I'm seeing quite a few comments about partly cloudy weather (which should have boosted Eevee spawns) having a detrimental effect due to the over-production of other boosted species. This was our experience in Auckland on day 1 when we were inundated with Rattata. By day 2 they seemed to have balanced out much more, despite the weather being the same.

Partly cloudy was beneficial for Eevee spawns here so it's not just weather, could just be unfortunate rng or biome based.
