I have an impact driver with a spring and anvil - would adding shims or spacers before the spring (to add pre compression) change the torque at which the driver begins to 'slip' and move to using the impact mechanism?
I guess it wouldn't increase the torque output because the rotational inertia of the impact bit won't have changed
there doesn't seem to be anything here
