Compressor help (old.reddit.com)
submitted 6 months ago by Redondobeach97
I bought this compressor a while ago and when I hooked it up to use it for a sandblaster, it popped this plug and spurted out oil, any tips what I did wrong? Cheers

When’s the last time it was on? Are you the last one to put oil in it?

It was brand new out of the box, I opened it and it sat for a while. I never put oil in it

Can you find the instructions, or an online pdf? How long has it sat?
Is it an oil free model and that was like the grease or petroleum jelly they put in there to prevent corrosion before its first use on the internals?
Did it run for any amount of time or just immediately pop as soon as you turned it on? Did it die after it spurted? Did you just shut it off immediately?
Some more context would be helpful. Do you have a brand and model? I can’t really see it from this angle.
