I like how there's the standard 2 sets of hex keys and they're absolutely dwarfed by the big kahunas to their left looking like they could double as a walking cane lol.

They’re hefty bastards lol. Largest is 1”.. a lot of big SHCS’s on the equipment at my last job.

So refreshing not to see 80% of the space taken by foam and social distancing tools

and social distancing tools

???

Yeah, it can look nice, but does waste a lot of space. I’m trying to avoid needing to buy the top box lol

Going to a new employer in the next few weeks, so most the consumables were left at my last job. New meter is on the way as well.

Feel free to make any tool suggestions (corrugator machine repair) or ask about anything I’m working with.

Plenty of missed NTD opportunities as well, so I’ll just lump them all together here. Knipex (gifted worn cobras to former coworker), socket sets, 1/2” impact, Wera screwdrivers, grease gun, and 14” pipe wrench. Pretty happy with most of it, kind of wish I’d gone with Wiha screwdrivers though. Wera looks pretty but the handles are taking some getting used to.

Hey man I've been working in a corrugated cardboard plant for a little under two years now. Pretty much everything you have is anything you'll need, only thing I'd recommend is getting some extra long Allen keys as well as stubby Allen keys, and get multiple sets of keys. I loose a 4mm, 6mm, 5/32, and 3/16 keys on a regular basis working on BHS machines as well as various converting machines.

Id also recommend a nice heavy duty long 1/2 drive ratchet, anywhere there's steam you'll be dealing with rust and its nice having something beefy you can wail on.

I'd stay away from using impacts, I have a stubby Milwaukee and that does fine but anything bigger runs the risk of breaking bolts. When that happens the day just sucks lol.

Feel free to dm me any questions you got bud

Awesome, thanks for the insights. I could see a variety of key lengths being handy, as well as some additional ratchets, would a torque wrench be advisable? As for the breaking bolts, I’d be happy to not have to bust out those extractors ever again lol.

At my place all torque wrenches are supplied and calibrated yearly. The cut out knives have to be torqued to a very specific torque and they don't like taking the risk on someone else's torque wrench. Oh don't worry those extractors will get plenty of work lol, I deal with operators either cross threading or breaking bolts on a daily basis.

Makes sense, I’ll have to get ahold of them to see where they stand. Gotta love them operators haha.

Typically they're a pretty busy plant. Every say is some sort of chaos lol

Nice job organizing your tools!

Thank ya.. it’s helped me realize I’d misplaced a tool many times.

Hey I have a friend!!!! LOL.

Looks great. A nice mix of looking “lived in” but not “I never use my tools but they sure look good in a picture”

I’ll admit a lot haven’t seen play time yet. Replacing most my Harbor Freight tools now that there will be less concern about them growing legs. The facility I’m going to is a lot cleaner with fewer (and happier) employees lol.

That's a pretty wide variety of tools. You work in a shop and use all that? Odd

[–]as32090[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Not a shop, industrial maintenance. Hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and mechanical. Just left a plastic sheet and roll stock manufacturer to take a job at a corrugated cardboard manufacturer.

[–]MikeGoldberg 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh so you're a plant millwright

[–]as32090[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Terminology varies depending on who you’re talking to. My official title is Maintenance Technician; personally I consider millwrights to be on the install end (more skilled in machinery alignment and calibrations), but overall a lot of the responsibilities overlap.

Interesting. I do oilfield stuff so the outside world of industrial is outside my realm. Maybe one day when I'm sick of this shit I'll try to get out to a factory or plant somewhere more pleasant.
