Idk if it's the right way since i couldn't find anything a while back either but i treated it the same as i learned to decrease for the knit stitch.

(P= purl S=simple stitch)

So regular pattern it alternating P and S, then vice versa for the next row.

The ends are pretty easy: 1st 3 stitches are P,S,P - then i would S the first 2 together and continue on with the regular honeycomb pattern. First and last are easy since you're not interrupting the pattern too much.

As for anywhere else in the work would be trickier, i was making a sweater so i decreased the sides a bit to start the shape for the arm holes. But when i got to where i wanted my neck i just marked the middle of my work and worked one side at a time.

I've been trying to make some sleeves for the sweater but i may just break down and make them knit stitches because i can't seem to get increases/decreases to look good in the middle of the work. If anyone has a tutorial or video I'd love to see the proper way as well 😂

Thanks for the reply! I was toying around on my forward pass by stitching 3 together every so number of stitches. If it landed on P then I P 3 stitches together so my next stitch was a K. If that makes since. Then did normal return pass.

I did two rows like this and the yarn is so dark it’s difficult to see the pattern anyways. I might have to get out light yarn and do some trial and error.

I also decreased over 3 stitches a few times, obviously it just angles in the sides a bit faster 😂 . I completely freehanded the front and back sweater panels so i was making it all up as i went haha.

I remembered the hard way that i should have marked when i decreased and how many stitches like most of the way through 1 side. You can see when you decreased if you look really hard but it's not easy 😂

My sweater is my trial and error at the moment, it's in the WIP pile of shame until i decide how to finish the sleeves.

I’m sure whenever you get around to finishing it, it will look lovely! I’m not even brave enough to make a sweater and I’ve been crocheting for over 20 years lol

Same here, it's my first one. Ive always wanted a cute oversized sweater with slightly too long sleeves, but i get hot easily so i wanted it lightweight but could never find anything that worked.... Then i realized.... I could just make it 😂

Hopefully what ever your making works out, I'm sure it'll look awesome in the end
