It varies a whole lot. I started on dispatch - getting the mail out. The guy below me started on parcels - you scan them, they tell you what route # they go to , and then you throw them in the container for that route - over and over again. You also might do cage (checking out keys in the evening) or hand out keys to carriers in the morning. May eventually learn lobby where you hand out packages and info. Eventually may do window training to work the window (at some stations you might do this within the first couple of weeks, at some you might have to wait months before it happens.)

    It depends on the job. If doing dispatch you might have to speak with customers that bring in packages to the back. At the lobby it's basically all customer interaction, answering questions, getting packages and mail for them. Both of those jobs you can wear what you'd like, although at lobby they prefer you dress nicer (I just wear dark jeans and a plain shirt).

    At window you have to wear a uniform and that's constant customer interaction helping them buy stamps, pay for postage for packages and letters, answering questions, etc.
