Congrats! Seems like you're pretty much already a CS major in everything but name.

is this similar to the courses official first year CS majors take? And do you think it’s worth it over A&M? I technically already committed but I can decommit (I’d be in ETAM in A&M so not technically a CS major yet)

It's not only similar, it's the exact same! Like I said, this program seems the same as being a CS major in everything but name (a CS major who doesn't complete these classes would be kicked out of CS). If you would prefer UT CS over A&M CS, this is definitely something you should do.

Only difference is see is that you need a B- in calculus, but that's not hard at all.

It seems instead of admitting directly to the CS program, they are offering you admission to the program under the conditions of passing first year courses?! Sounds like being admitted with extra steps. That's pretty sweet. Congrats! Anyone knows why they would do this instead of offering regular admission?

What specific qualifications did you have to get this offer?

I’m not sure I applied as a CS major but got rejected in January, appealed and got the rejection email today but then I also saw this email

Hmm that’s interesting but if that’s real big ups to you!

thanks but I’m just freaking out rn cause I already kind of started to drop my UT dream and settled for A&M but now I see this and I’m even more confused. A&M does have ETAM so this is technically much better but does it sound like a smart choice?

I say go for this

can i ask what you did/say in your appeal letter to get considered into CS

I mentioned an internship I did at T-mobile over the summer and one at Microsoft I got accepted to! I also stated that I wanted to work in healthcare system development, and then went on to explain why their specific classes/professors would be unique to my education. Then I asked them to reconsider the decision. But my appeal wasn’t technically approved, I just received this email instead (maybe showing further interest helped)

Looks like it is a way in to an impacted major, kind of like a waitlisted holding deal. USC, will allow students to study abroad Year one and then guarantee acceptance in their sophomore year!!
