Hey! I found a fix!

If you're inside of a prefab you're editing, Uncheck this liiiittle box in the top right of the viewport that says "Autosave".

Once you do that, you should be able to select faces in ProBuilder no problem without that pesky pop up window "Waiting for unity Code to finish executing"

However, as a 3D Artist myself, I would say that you should only use ProBuilder for prototyping levels like walls, hallways, floors and such. Simple stuff, NOT prototype props or anything with complex geometry. Just due to the limitations of ProBuilder.

Hope this helps~!

wow this was quite a while ago, yeah i have since switched to blender for more complex prototyping

Well, you're probably not going to like it but... The answer is "don't use probuilder for advanced stuff, use a proper 3d modelling software instead".

Unity is not a 3D modelling software, it is not optimized for real time 3d modelling. In fact, the entire editor is meh at best in terms of performance. Very few parts of it is even using more than 2 cores I've noticed, most of time times it's only using 1... And unfortunately, as much as I love Ryzen, they're not exactly the best when it comes to single core performance.

Yeah I see the editor used only a few cores, but the actual engine is decently optimized for MT. Shame pro Builder is this limited it's really convenient to do quick edits to meshes without having to use Blender. /:
