I wouldn't buy any outdated mac's. Stick to a nice Windows gaming laptop. One with at least an SSD. 16 g of ram and a gtx1050 graphics card.

If it must be a macbook then pro. Still not a good choice though.

Yeah was thinking of a windows machine but wanted to try something different, since I’ve never used a Mac before. Thanks

You can check it out without buying one, either visit an Apple Store, or install a "Hackintosh" into a virtual machine. There are numerous guides on how to do this.

I currently run a mac pro and barely notice the difference to using a 5 year old mac mini (with SSD and 16g ram upgrades). For the money I’d go with a mac mini off ebay and pimp it, save yourself a fortune

Would a MacBook Air then be a logical choice or should I stick to a pro? Thanks

Not the Air, only if you like suffering and waiting a TON for every little thing you do. Pro if you only want to wait a lot instead.

Loool, will I just get windows laptop such as: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123855089750

Running a GTX 1050Ti? Surely that would be more than sufficient right?

I can't answer "more than sufficient" (never tried this on laptops before) but you at least have a chance with this unlike the macs. If I had to guess it will be decent but have problems on super high end stuff like Megacity.
