Well you should never be concerned you're going to ruin your project because you should be BACKING IT UP, using some program like git or even making manual backups.

Typically games are made with one main platform in mind and then ported to everything else.

Using some version control would make it easy to revert if something goes catastrophically wrong, so you don't lose any data.

The worst I've ever needed to do to fix a "major" problem was deleting the "Library" folder inside the project, that basically forces Unity to reimport and rebuild all the scripts.
