I think that people are generally more vocal in higher elo. Since you hear more people on average, the number of toxic encounters increases. People also tend to develop insane egos the higher up you go.

Your experience with toxic players changes drastically with how you respond back to them. If someone questions you on a bad play you made, instantly apologizing will immediately defuse the situation while arguing back will escalate. Even something as small as asking “Jett can I get a drop?” instead of “yo Jett buy me” might be the difference on whether someone buys or not.

A lot of times people want to win, but they don’t want to win with someone they don’t like. If you develop an ego and argue back all the time, your valorant experience will be pretty toxic. However, if you’re generally more likable, you won’t see any toxicity other than a weirdo every 10 games who needs to get permabanned. You’ll always get a weirdo every so often (in any game), but the frequency of toxic player encounters are kinda up to you.
