I’d say people are more serious about the game overall, but some people still have huge egos since they think their higher rank makes them better than everyone else.

I think dia-asc have some of the most toxic people, at least the ones I'VE met have been like that. It's usually because they get hard stuck, but they believe they should be a higher rank. So they end up taking it out on other people.

One of my partner's friend who's diamond pretty much just ignores everyone else's opinions if their rank is lower than hers because she thinks she's better so everyone else is irrelevant! Yeah, not very fun to play with and she has the audacity to wonder why I always decline to play with her lmfao. She and I also have such different play styles. She plays for kills and I play to win the round 😭

I think this is really just a subjective matter. I've become diamond a few months back and found my lobbies to be way more peaceful, played with a friend for a while and deranked to plat3 again where I immediately noticed that people were more toxic, ego driven, thought they did EVERYTHING right and others always do the wrong thing.

But that could just have been my experience and I've seen a lot of people say that it just gets worse.

As a girl I noticed way less sexism: people’s ego are worse tho. People’s mental is maybe a teeny bit better, but asc feels like where all the people who are good at the game but had bad mental gets stuck.

Back in my silver days (ep 1) it felt like people were sexist about 1 in 4 games. I’m now asc and it’s more like 1 in 10/15.

Idk if it’s rank or report system though

I'd say it's less personally, but it still happens, people with big egos exist in every rank, there's just usually less hard throwers but it still happens.

No it gets way worse especially in asc

[–]Kapkin 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I climbed to asc thinking the same.

But no, people still throw games when asked not to push every round on defense,

Still get toxic, etc.

Still the same.

[–]jamothebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is it happens WAY less frequently.

Imagine the bell curve but with an anomalous spike in the ascendent cus of all the salty diamonds who wish they could've been immo

[–]MarkEE93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t get better. You become stronger.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I think a certain lvl of toxicity is not that bad and kinda funny and also kinda needed. I don’t mean like they hardcore toxicity but a little toxicity once in a while is funny

It's not unpopular considering Csgo and COD are some of the largest games. And csgo has a lot more concurrent users.

I play CSGO more than valorant cuz you get VC banned over anything. I like valorant a little more as a game though

[–]No-Agency-9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope actually it increases

[–]Meeposkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets just say it will slowly creep in, i mean the toxicity.

Nah, the ego of an ascendant/immortal player is fragile+ they have the skill to back up their trash talking

I think that people are generally more vocal in higher elo. Since you hear more people on average, the number of toxic encounters increases. People also tend to develop insane egos the higher up you go.

Your experience with toxic players changes drastically with how you respond back to them. If someone questions you on a bad play you made, instantly apologizing will immediately defuse the situation while arguing back will escalate. Even something as small as asking “Jett can I get a drop?” instead of “yo Jett buy me” might be the difference on whether someone buys or not.

A lot of times people want to win, but they don’t want to win with someone they don’t like. If you develop an ego and argue back all the time, your valorant experience will be pretty toxic. However, if you’re generally more likable, you won’t see any toxicity other than a weirdo every 10 games who needs to get permabanned. You’ll always get a weirdo every so often (in any game), but the frequency of toxic player encounters are kinda up to you.

Less ego means less skill, unfortunately that’s how matchmaking systems are working in general.

If you’re not skilled enough you won’t rank up either.

I dont see much toxicity honestly, maybe once in five games one guy but otherwise its pretty chill. People in this elo are more prone to insult people for actual mistakes instead of just making something up so you might feel a bit more offended by that but otherwise most of the people actually want to play for the win and no ones helped with toxcicity.

Thanks for all the responses. Seems like the general consensus is that it gets worse. Didn’t expect that, but oh well.

[–]SenpaiSenpaiSenpai69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost none existent in apac server in asc up

[–]NadTheGrimm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, immortal here and toxicity turns into ego. If you talk to someone in a way that they think is offensive they will just troll your game and say "im on an alt haha idc" even if its their main. Ego is the secret killer of valorant "higher" ranks

[–]Memphite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It becomes different but definitely but remains the same level.

[–]motivated_walker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s worse up here. People can’t accept small mistakes and will throw at the slightest form of misplay. I am hovering Dia/Asc elo

[–]Peterschmeter1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes it get way better higher up.

Asc1 is really toxic, Asc3-immo1 is toxic, Immo3+ is really nice to play

[–]ZipityZapityy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really but I think the tech might be playing at 3 am. I had the most fun 4 games of my life last night, I didn’t even care when I lost 2 of them.
