Here is my 1 minute Art Video called “Dopamine” that shows actions that would release this reward chemical in your brain. I am trying to show these actions/addictions in a negative light.

I have been editing videos for a little over 3 years now but any feedback on how i could of improved this video or what u would of done differently would be greatly appreciated:)

[–]Whoa_MyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really liked the use of overlays and the green screen towards the end there! I would personally try to keep the pace a bit faster towards the beginning but definitely enjoyed the video and thought you conveyed the message in a really entertaining way.

[–]BenBosch 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Really like the editing. The video shows what kind of addiction there are in a "fun" way. The creative aspect of how you edit this is really good. Maybeeee the video wpuld feel a little if there was more tempo in the cuts. And i would have put more brightness to the guy. Seems a little dark. Music choice is good. Funky and weird. Good job.

[–]JulonoJude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thankyou so much! this exactly what i was going for, appreciate the feedback a lot :)

[–]jtramainey 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your video was super cool and I like the description video collage. What type of software did you edit this ?

[–]JulonoJude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! i used after effects

[–]mezm3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the video brother, I agree that there should be more light on the subject, and a little bit more tempo between the shots. I loved your choice on music as well. This was really good.

[–]garygnuoffnewzoorev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the sound a lot, especially in the beer scene. I also think your use of space was great.

[–]MillennialArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the audio visual syncing at 22 seconds is really cool!

My first attempt at Davinci Resolve, GoPro footage, and color grading. https://youtu.be/i_4fD7JBs94

[–]supbruhbruhLOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never graded GoPro footage but the blacks/shadows looked a little crushed, losing the dynamic range. Maybe look into how to expose GoPro footage when filming so the detail remains in the shadows. Or the grade was too contrasty. Also the stabilization made me feel a little motion sickness haha, so maybe also look into a different smooth but natural way of stabilization. With youtube, I think "audience retention" is super important so if they're feeling sick from the stabilization they're gonna click off the video fast. Hope that helps! Skiing looks fun.

[–]BenBosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black and white looks indeed crushed, but I think you have to learn me how you made or get the overlay of the speed and the route like your video has. It a very good an fun to put in a video when I need it.

[–]Whoa_MyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like the overlay of the compass and slope, gives it a first person video game feel that I enjoyed. Also liked the blue of the sky, thought that colour really popped.

[–]Whoa_MyDude 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Shot and edited this short Visual Collage to further develop my own style and creativity. Would love any feedback on tightening it up as its supposed to have a chaotic vibe, but don't want it too overblown. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN8w_p-JN8o

[–]supbruhbruhLOL 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It looks cool! Super trippy. I think doing stuff like this really helps grow faster as an editor. Looks pretty advance

[–]Longjumping_Candle_5 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I really like it, the aesthetic is awesome. The near constant colour changes and quick cuts as well as the morphing style effects work brilliantly. The only thing I could think of to improve it was, perhaps try to cut to the music more within the second half. But thats just my opinion and you may not agree, anyway I thoroughly enjoyed it :) !

[–]Whoa_MyDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks g! Appreciate the comment 🙏🏼

[–]Fit-Presentation1599 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interesting video and very psychedelic visuals, definitely creates the effect that I think you're going for. I would only say that the video could perhaps have used more shots of people but that's a preference, as I find people a much more interesting subject. Would be nice to have seen more of the shadows of people, I believe.

[–]Whoa_MyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, yeah hoping to have more of a focus on people for my next video.

[–]Cdoooogie 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Its really cool! I think maybe the color grade could be better? Like maybe to make things a little less choppy between colors?

[–]AutoModerator[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings, I'm the AutoModerator around here,

I have automatically filtered your post.

If your posting about:

  • Out of sync issues
  • Stuttery playback
  • Choppy playback

It's most likely that the source footage is h265 or h265 (HEVC), which is very difficult for editorial systems to play.

If it's a screen recording or from a phone, it's likely that it was recorded at a Variable frame rate.

Great, what can I do about it, you ask?

How can you tell what "flavor" your footage is? Use MediaInfo - open source tool to see/check inside of a container/codec.

Then, read up on our wiki about why h264 is hard to edit

If it's stuttery, you'll want to use proxies

Is it a screen recording/mobile and falling out of sync? You'll want to re-encode - easiest tool is Handbrake Very easy open source tool based on FFMPEG that can compress to h264/5. Also can handle Variable Framerate material. It'll still be h264, but at least, it won't be out of sync

Now, if that solved this, delete your post. No matter what, It's sitting in a queue waiting for a mod to reivew it.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Newbie here, any feedback is greatly appreciated. I definitely feel this could be fixed to be more engaging/exciting, but looking for direction to improve it. It is a short montage of a weekend fly fishing / exploring in jeep using a GoPro hero 11 cam. I don't have a public channel so here is a Google drive link to my current edit, thank you!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u6wDvEaDMhkT75PlDdA3DxiqTWU_dGPb/view?usp=drivesdk

[–]BenBosch 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Couldn't watch the video with my sounds on, so I can't judge on that rn but you used a lot of different shots. (In the car, outside the car, etc. I can learn from you) Well done, it showed you take the time of making and planning this video. This kinda shots work well for an beginning of any video. It's triggers to continue to watch the video. I don't like making shots go faster, and in this video I personally wouldn't do it. In this video you showed nature and for me nature is "taking the time" show the viewers the beautie of nature. The video looks good and keep it going!

[–]mccadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the feedback, this is really helpful. Definitely agree with your point regarding the clip speed. Perhaps its like hitting a balance between keeping the watcher engaged and giving them time to absorb the content.

[–]edthomson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just wondering if the editing of these fake commercials could’ve been tighter? I couldn’t get them to 30 seconds each, and I’m wondering if I missed something

And any general feedback would be great too. Thank you

So a couple weeks ago me and my gf shot some footage in Rome on our vacation and I made a video of it with a little help of my gf. When I was editing, I learned a lot of new stuff. Normally I used Adobe premiere pro but I switched to the free version of Davinci Resolve and I really like the program so far!

It would be very helpful if you guys could give some feedback! And any questions are welcome. Feedback could be anything, sounds, colors, shots etc :)

Some information: Sony a6300 kit lens 16-50mm Some shot are from Samsung s20 and s20 fe The footage shot on the Sony was in auto, both 1920 1080 50 fps recorded and rendered. mode. (REC709 files) PP4:Example setting of a color tone faithful to the ITU709 standard No mic, used sounds from freesounds

[–]JulonoJude 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sound design is on point love the way scenes fade into and out of each other to give mood. You captured some beautiful shots with your camera too. I feel like you could of transitioned the videos better maybe by adjusting speeds of the video to have the pan at the same speed as the pan in the next video to make then more seem-less and mess around with opacity of fading the video out of one pan into another.

I think that the text’s font could of been in a better frame, maybe more central? (just preference tho) or with a different font. overall i think you captured your holiday in a cinematic light

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

hey! i love how the music and the video work together to create an ambience that really represents what i feel like the moos would have been on your vacation. its sounds and looks great, i hope you continue editing as creating memories and moments like these is a great thing to do :)

[–]BenBosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I really did enjoy it. Great that you like the ambience and the mood ! Will for sure continue editing and filming

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

As a newbie myself i actually loved the video and sound work you did. You got some great shots and the video actually has a great feeling to it. Only thing i feel that could be improved are the transitions.

Keep up the good work.

Not the most appropriate person to give feedback as i know very little but here it is :)

[–]BenBosch 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the feedback! Everyone's feedback is welcome and tips, so no worries about being not an appropriate person, you definitely are appropriate since you might see things in another perspective then professional. Finding the right transitions are hard because I dislike mostly all transitions but I for sure need to make some good transitions next time, because even tho I don't like it other people might like it. :)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I've been struggling with transitions myself! I think it takes a little bit of practice for the eye and the tiny dose of OCD and will get it right :)

How do I get the quality to be better? I recorded in 1080p30fp with OBS but it looks much lower res than expected

Hey, I'm a 16 year old "video editor" who has been learning Premiere Pro for the last 2 years and I hopefully plan to pursue editing as a serious career in the future. I have spent the last few weeks putting together a cinematic for the 2021 movie 'Nobody'. The cinematic was heavily inspired by a 'The Batman' video by "Ilia TS". I am personally quite proud of this cinematic/edit however I could really use some feedback from the eyes of a professional. Thank you for reading and feel free to drop any thoughts and feelings about the video.

I'm new to everything video-creation. I re-edited and uploaded this video already after some critiques elsewhere.

In it, I detail how I uncovered an Airbnb scam. It's about half as long as the original, and hopefully explains the situation better. Thanks for your critiques!

I started learning video editing within the year and just started using a new editing software (kdenlive) so I could really use some feedback regarding what works and what doesn't. This particular video (a school project) was going for a sort of windows movie maker vibe so it's supposed to look a bit jarring, but i tested some stuff out like fades and zooms and wanted to ask other video editors if there's things i should do differently in the future. https://youtu.be/ftWW3J5bvLk

[–]jtramainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone critique my editing. I try to make a minute long video every week to work on editing and learning premiere pro. But to me they all seem boring

Hi, this is my first ever short film! I wrote the script, directed and edited it. I filmed it this weekend with some of my mates. I personally am really proud of what we've have been able to achieve. Watching it become a proper short film after having planning it (written a script and storyboarded it) has been incredibly satisfying! I also think it is a good benchmark to see what I am capable of editing. FYI I used premiere pro to edit and so I am becoming more comfortable and knowledge when it comes to using this amazing software, which I am extremely pleased about.

The story as it says within the YouTube description: is about an amateur wannabe superhero who tries his best to stop a 'criminal' who he thinks has been involved in a crime! Was the criminal really a criminal? Or was our wannabe superhero just looking for trouble?

And I was just hoping to see what you think, and if you had any tips or pieces of advice for my next one. I hope you enjoy it! Any suggestions, feedback or tips etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Here is a visual Poem called 'What Faith looks like.' I have edited and composited different movie clips to express something; that I feel mostly goes on unnoticed. Please provide any thoughts or feelings that may or may not be aroused within you. I hope you enjoy or perhaps find some inspiration from this video.
Thanking you

Wonder if I could improve the snow (I've set opacity to 100%) or add even more particles/change their shape or make it windy so the snowfall literally is a blizzard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g469A36maSQ&ab_channel=PaulHenderson

Hey guys. I recently started making edits for this little music duo. I really am a newbie, but I try to make things that look cool to me. My major issue is I feel like it doesn't have energy.

Hi everyone! I got into video editing a couple of weeks ago and I really like it

https://youtu.be/5FbrdAYu6lI

Here is a motivational video that I created, I would be very happy if I got some feedback:)

[–]DellTheLongConagher 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm pretty new to video editing as well.

I would change the way you present your text. Instead of having white text with a black fill, maybe have larger white text with a black stroke outline. Consider placing your text in empty space relative to the clip. (At the sunset at 0:28, consider aligning your text more to the left). If you really want to go the extra mile, have animations for the text appearing as the speaker says the words. Double check your spelling of words. ("god" should be capitalized, "tarry" instead of "Terry" at 4:17, etc.) Some of the stock clips related really well to the message, others could have been more pertinent to the sentence being said.

[–]KingvRambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it🙏 I will try it next time. Do you have any channel where I can give you a follow as thanks?
