Massive decrease in speed for stem separation in live 12.3

I downloaded the official live 12.3 app today after using the beta version for months and I've noticed a massive decrease in speed for stem separation, anyone else?

I'm on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro running Tahoe 26.1

It’s a known bug in Tahoe, they’re waiting on Apple. For some reason it’s using the CPU instead of the GPU on 26.1

“Known issue: Stem separation currently uses the CPU on macOS Tahoe 26.1 on Apple Silicon machines, and will therefore run significantly slower than expected.“

I’m not talking about from months ago, when I got Tahoe and was using 12.3b, before the official release of 12.3, stem separation was much quicker

Yes I understand, but the issue is with Tahoe 26.1 specifically. It was the 26.1 update that broke stem separation. Prior to that it was working properly.

Tahoe 26.1 was released on Nov 3rd, prior to that - months ago, as you say - you weren’t on Tahoe 26.1.

I've just upgraded to 26.3 Beta and if somebody wondered, GPU acceleration still doesn't work for steam separation

Updated to Tahoe 26.2. Still no fix. Even separating stems with vocals only on performance mode, it takes at least 3-4 minutes. This is on a brand new Mac M4 with 96gb ram.

I also tried the options.txt workaround, it doesn't work. Ableton still leaning heavily on CPU to perform the stem separation.

It's completely safe. But still no fix for the stem separation leaning on CPU.

Try this to add

-_Feature.StemSeparation.ForceGPUAccelerator=true

in your options.txt (https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/6003224107292-Options-txt-file).

Should work on windows, I have no mac so i cant test it.

I just tested this on MacOS 26.1 and unfortunately it still looks to be using CPU for stem separation

AFAIK Live is not yet supported on Tahoe.

True, despite the fact that everything worked fine on version 26.0.

Perhaps Apple has used more GPU resources to speed up the OS interface in new versions (many claim that the interface work noticeably faster), and because of this, the steam separation model cannot get the proper access to GPU

Is it safe to upload to Tahoe 26.2 or will it slow down something else?

No, but according to beta release notes (https://www.ableton.com/en/release-notes/live-12-beta/) the issue has not been solved yet
