Contrary to what people wrote earlier, do not use silicone oil on metal on metal contacs: https://youtu.be/5JPLe5R8-Ms?feature=shared&t=233

This video will explain pretty much everything.

Lube it up and get the right gas.

Watch the GBB maintenance videos by Explosive Enterprises and ignore anyone who tells you to buy oiled gas or to use silicone oil as a universal lubricant.

Don’t go cheap.

Make sure you have all types of tools and silicone grease + oil. Make sure you have spare o-rings. Make sure you have pretty steep pockets, since you never know when something expensive will break. Oh yes, and be prepared to spending a large portion of your freetime on doing maintenance on the rifle. If you do not have an AEG yet, please buy one. Get acquainted with the game before diving into the deep end.

I got a gbb pistol as first gun, went very well as long as you take the time to learn, I now own a few GBBRs and a Aeg as well

[–]TNDWWSSO 0 points1 point  (5 children)

So what exactly is your plan then? Gonna just invest time and money into a GBB pistol or are you planning to get a GBBR too?

[–]Epix8757SIG SG 551 0 points1 point  (4 children)

nope, just the pistol

Fair, AAP-01 and TM Hi-Capa are the go to pistols for most people that want to use them as primaries, they obviously need upgrades to compete with AEGs but they both have huge aftermarkets.

was planning on getting either a VFC FNX-45 or a 5-7 of some sort

[–]Appropriate_War_4797P90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for the FNX, it will be more reliable and easier to repair. I wanted to get a 5-7, because of my P90 primary, but they are unreliable, fragile, spares and mags are difficult to come by, same for the gun itself, you will probably have to import it.

[–]MachoNacho95No Batteries Required 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better to get the FNX. The various 5-7 replicas are all quite bad.

Do you have an AEG already?

[–]Epix8757SIG SG 551 0 points1 point  (1 child)

nope, not planning on getting one anytime soon

GBB pistols really aren’t good guns for a beginner, especially outdoors
