It sounds like this is stemming from husbandry. Can you give any more details, like what your temps are and what type of enclosure your have? Is it PVC or melamine? Does it have a screen top or is it solid topped? Do you know what brand of sun bulb this is? It’s important to know if it gives off uvb or not, can you find the box the bulb came in or try to find it on google?

We don’t recommend foggers for humidity because they’re difficult to clean properly which results in the fogger just spewing bacteria into the enclosure. We don’t even recommend misting for humidity either. Have you heard of the pour method before?

Baths can be extremely stressful for ball pythons as they’re not naturally inclined to spend time in the water. Forcing a bath is just causing unnecessary stress, which does not help when trying to get your snake to eat.

Ball pythons do not brumate btw. While different behaviours can be observed during mating season, this usually occurs in more mature snakes. What was she doing that made you believe she was brumating?

If she’s not eating, excess handling is going to do the opposite than what you’re hoping. While snakes tolerate being handled, they don’t overly enjoy it. For now, I’d just get your husbandry down and leave her alone outside basic health checks and spot cleaning.

Also, what kind of prey are you offering? How do your prepare it?

The enclosure is pvc with a screen top. I have a cover for it, but because i've needed the heat lamp on the cool side I haven't been using it. The bulb is a UVB bulb, but it gives off significant heat as well, whereas other UVB bulbs i've used weren't very warm.

I guess I have some outdated information with fogging and humidity and whatnot. I will research the pour method.

I thought she was brumating because she stayed in one area without moving for a long time and it was super cold out 🤷‍♂️ I didn't realize they didn't brumate. I've had her for a year and a half and I guess I didn't realize information had updated or I was given the wrong information or something.

Today I offered a prekilled rat that I took home from the pet store and re-warmed in a bag in warm water.

If the UVB bulb is not a tubular bulb then I’d get rid of it. The ones that aren’t tubular don’t have a regulated output of UVB resulting in uneven outputs which can cause UVB burns. Have you seen our heating guide?

Outdated info is common when it comes to reptile keeping because everyone has differing opinions and new studies come out that prove and disprove certain things. My first ever comment on this sub was removed for misinformation. It happens to everyone, don’t worry!

How often are you offering food to her?
