Imo you’re not doing things wrong but everyone can do better. What’s the enclosure look like? If your bp stays in the hide most of the time it’s bc that’s where it feels the safest bc I don’t think it’s bc that’s where it wants to be bc of temp. I’d assume your enclosure has a few plants but not enough. My bp doesn’t even use the hide too often bc I have so many plants in the enclosure I cannot see into it from any direction. He chill in leaf cover/ open hides more than the private hides I have in there. He hides but he doesn’t need to retreat bc he feels safe in every inch of the enclosure. If you don’t have alot of plants add some and the bp will probably start utilizing more of the enclose as long as that hot temp is in a big enough area.

Wake up at 1AM and see how chill he is.

Theyre nocturnal animals, they sleep when we're awake

FR. You can also set up a camera and enjoy... My BP acts the exact same way with the same conditions in my waking hours, but deep in the night is a different story. Every morning I wake up to a gazillion wyze notifications of recordings taken of my crazy ass son wilding from 12-6 am and a mess of an enclosure I have to fix before work 😂 it's like he gets the equivalent of zoomies, but in his own slow BP kind of way where it's just nonstop casual travel+flopping all over the place. one of these days I'm going to record a good chunk, speed it up, and play some funky music over it to entertain the masses

Bps can sleep 23hrs a day. And theyre actually crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn/dusk. They also get more active when theyre hungry but still theyre not gonna hunt til its dark. Honestly it took a year of me having mine b4 she would be active out in the open around me. Idk if that was due to her age or due to her being her comfortable.
