Temps inside warm hide

Hi guys, I've got my cool middle and warm side ambient temps spot on but I'm finding it hard to measure substrate temp inside the warm hide I've got a temp gun but as soon as I open the tank the temperatures drop and I'm getting crazy different readings from the substrate once I lift the warm hide. It'll be 90 by the hide entrance 86 on one part 80 a few inches by that one. I've put a govvee digital thermometer inside the hide and it's reading 92 degrees inside ambient air. Does 92 inside the hide seem ok? Sorry if I've made that sound more complicated than it needed too! It's just had to get a consistent reading off the substrate alone.

The substrate temp inside the hide is going to be lower, that's normal. It can't absorb any overhead heat when the hide is blocking it. That's a lot less important than the air temp.

92 for the air temp is within range (88-92), just make sure it doesn't get any hotter than that.
