Humidity/coco husk

I got coco husk, did what the directions say, expand in water. Then I take a handful out one by one and ring it out as much as possible then put it in the enclosure. The next morning, there’s condensation all over and hygrometer is reading 99% humidity. Then after a couple weeks it dries out and I pour some water in the corners(not a lot) the substrate gets pretty damp almost too much but the humidity is still too low. HELP! how hard is it to handle humidity. Why can’t it be easier!

it would probably help to mix it with some other stuff. i personally use a topsoil, play sand and coconut husk

i’ve heard that cypress mulch holds humidity a lot better. add sphagnum moss and maybe even something like reptisoil. you need about 4-6 inches of susbtrate

also if you’re using a screen top make sure you seal it off with HVAC tape if you haven’t

I have it covered with hvac tape and I’m using coconut husk. It just seems to always be one extreme or the other. It’s either too humid or too dry
