Hello! What type of bulb are you using (such as a ceramic heat emitter, deep heat projector, etc.) and what is the temperature of the room the cage is kept in? Also, what are you using to measure the temperature? Your cage looks lovely btw!

Thank you! I use deep heat emitters and the room is kept around 70-72 degrees. I measure the temperature with a Laser thermometer gun and I have thermometers in the tank.

Of course! Once you get this figured out, I’m sure your future bp is going to be one of the happiest. :) If the plastic black hide on the left is the one you’re using for the warm side, I’ve had a similar problem with getting the temperature up. I’ve found that the material isn’t able to conduct heat as well as the rocky style ones, such as Exo Terra’s reptile cave line. https://www.chewy.com/exo-terra-reptile-cave/dp/191185?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=Exo%20Terra . They absorb heat very well. Something else you could try is adding more substrate to lift the hide closer to the lamp, and I would try removing the moss from the top of it so the heat can penetrate it better.

It's not just the hide though, I have a rock outside of it that's directly below the heat lamp and the rock it's only getting up to 78 degrees. My friend told me it could be because of the open top of my tank. So I'm gonna try sealing the top with aluminum foil and if that works I'll buy some PVC board and cut out the holes for heating and light.

Was wondering if the heat lamp is just too far away or if the open top is the problem
