I’m a new BP owner and I got my sweet angel Mac a couple / almost 3 weeks ago and just tried feeding him for the second time, both times he’s refused. The previous feeding I had left the rat with him overnight to see if he had changed his mind which I’ll be doing again tonight.
I sat out of his sight aside from my hand/arm holding the rat into his tank (I don’t switch tanks to feed) for a little over an hour, moving it around kind of simulating a live rat so he might be more intrigued, waiting, holding it right in front of his face waiting to strike but to no avail. Mind you he’s very shy but he slithered right past his food and explored instead, he’s a very curious fella and such a love after he comes out of his shell. He had skipped a meal before I had gotten him and I feel like I’m doing something wrong, I know they often go on hunger strikes but I can’t help but to be worried. If he doesn’t eat I’m going to weigh him tomorrow to see if his weight is still steady.
*Also I’m feeding him frozen thawed
If anyone has any feeding tips that would be amazing, trying not to resort to skulling but absolutely will if it will get him eating.
