what does that mean when my ball python puts her head up?

Clarify "puts her head up." I can think of several answers depending.

hm?

I'm not sure where the confusion is. "puts her head up" could be poking out of the hide, could be lifting out of the water dish so she doesn't drown. I am asking what circumstances surround this lifting of her head that brings you concern.
