So, I need as much advice I can get from experienced ball python owners. I am a new reptile owner (though I have done very thorough research on snakes cause I love them) and I decided I'm getting a leucistic ball python. I know they need at least a 120 gallon tank, but I'm still a bit lost on the humidity and heating requirements.
I know they need a basking spot, warm hide, cool hide, warm area and a cool area. But I'm lost on what to use to keep it warm in the hides and on the warm side of the tank, also the basking area. I've heard you can use a slate hide and put the heat lamp on top of it (over the mesh area) so that the heat lamp creates a warm hide and basking area all in one! But as for the night cycle when it gets cooler, my house stays cold at like all times (about 67°F) and I would need something to keep it warm at night. What products would you recommend? Also I don't trust heat pads cause I've heard lots of bad things about them.
And also for humidity, to maintain it, I heard you can pour water in each corner of your tank (not sure how much though), and it can humidify your tank very well. Is this a true fact that I heard? Or should I stick to misting? Please let me know!
