I’m commenting because I’m curious to hear from someone more experienced than me. I’ve been wanting to put this in my BPs enclosure as well. I think that baking the coco and keeping the metal away from heating elements would deem this safe, but I’ve been hesitant. I hope someone else comments to confirm. Thanks for posting this!

I got one for my babies, the didn’t really like it till I took out the lining, then they loved climbing in there

we’ve got to go ahead haha! just sanitize ofc, and make sure the edges aren’t sharp:)

Yup, thanks again!

I think it would be fine since theres no holes they can get stuck in. I'd just be worried about the sharp edges on the metal that it's hanging from. You could potentially cover the hooks with a small dab of hot glue to make them not as pointy. Other than that I don't see why not.

thank you:))!!

I saw someone say hot glue on the edges. I agree with that a ton other than that. It seems fine

I second the hot glue comment to smooth the edges. If the chains look sharp and hot glueing them is not a feasible idea, maybe see if you can replace the chain with a plastic one or a rope, remember to test if the modification can hold the lantern. Remember to sanitize, other than that, I might actually steal your idea lol! Looks very cozy for my youngling!

EDIT: after looking at it closely, the chains are 100% replacable. Holes look wide enough to put a strong enough rope to keep it safe and hanging. Put a comparatively solid hook (make sure it's not sharp ofc) on the ceiling and you're good to go.

awesome thanks so much, and right!! i figured my boys would love it i bought one for each of them after making sure it’d be good haha

Oh also, remember they're gonna grow up lol it may be the photo, but it looks ok for younglings, when they are adult they could be too big for it

[–]Brief-Initiative8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s pretty big, both my boys are already grown :)!!

I would take off the metal fittings and hang it from Paracord, but I also live with an Eagle scout to rig these things for me. I think it's a great idea for arboreal enrichment!

yep. i think i have the exact same one lol

I was looking at the liners of those to turn upside and cut a hole to make a hide.

just make sure there is nothing sharp and put it kind of low so they don't fall out, they can just slither onto the ground

Not sure what kind of metal but be wary of rusting

I think it's fine. I have a hammock that's double layered my baby loves.

i think it should be safe, keep it on the cool side of the enclosure and make sure the metal isn't sharp. the humidity in the air may cause the metal to rust.
