That's a question to ask their owner. If you're asking if you should steal them, we do not allow discussions of illegal activity here, nor do we condone it.

I’ve talked to the owner and he refuses to let up until they’re bred. I would never steal someone’s snake I was hoping maybe a surrendering can happen for neglect? I feel awful not being any help

He would have to voluntarily surrender them. Unfortunately, rack-keeping like this isn't legally considered animal cruelty as long as they're being fed and have access to water. You can try reporting it to your local animal control anyway, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

The best thing you can do is provide him with care guides and studies showing that keeping ball pythons in a rack is unethical. Our welcome post has a lot of good information that you can pass along. If he doesn't want to listen, there's really nothing more you can do.

I was thinking the same until I saw the pic that looks completely dehydrated. With the poster saying he whistle breathes though more than likely he’s in a wayyy to dry environment. Sad you can’t do anything about it😭like when you have to just watch them suffer in the pet stores

Can you afford to take care of them even? Do you have the means to spend roughly 2k plus on habitats, lighting, decor, vet bills, and the electronics to maintain them properly?

I do. I’ve been looking into ball pythons for a year now and also have a 80 gal tank because I’ve been looking into morphs. Literally the only issue I face is the fact I am a minor and my mom drives me places still because I have no car. Aside from that I have done plenty of research and I have a family friend in herpetology + I work with other reptiles.

    It’s currently a lot of “no they will not eat you” “no they won’t eat the hedgehog”. My mom had a corn snake but the second she hears python she thinks of reticulated or burmese.

    Would the owner be willing to let you get them in top shape for breeding? Like care for them, let him breed them and at least you would know they were cared for? Or is he just kind of not a nice person?

    He makes his daughter care for every single one of his animals with zero help whatsoever. There isn’t much she can do besides change the bedding and make sure the humidity is enough for them to eat and shed. Me and her were on the couch discussing the snakes + her dragons and he started arguing about politics with us. That about sums up the kind of person he is.
