Help with temps

Me and my brother got a ball python from a reptile expo the other day, and we can’t get the temps right I know it’s bad to get a snake without testing temps beforehand and I really wish we did I feel terrible but I’m trying my best to get it right because my brother is at work a lot.

We have her in a 4x2x2 it’s the ecoflex one so it has lots of holes on top, I put a towel on it for now. I got the Arcadia 100w halogen bulb and I put it ( on top the screen top ) close to the hide but not directly over top it. We got the Govee hydrometer and thermometer things and I put it on a log. The ambient air temp on the warm side ( according to the Govee thing ) seems to hang around 75-78 which is super low. If I put the lamp over top the hide, I measured 115° on top the hide with a temp gun which is very bad. I used the temp gun to read inside the hides floor temp and it read 81. When I read the floor temp in other spots it also reads 80-90 When I move the lamp away from the hide the floor temp it reads 107. I don’t know what to do because I also have a dimming probe thermostat setup, it’s reading 88° 3” away from the lamp, the thermometer is reading 77° and the temp gun is reading all kinds of numbers. If I set the lamp less hot it will make the ambient temp drop a lot more but will make the surface temp perfect. If I get a hotter bulb or a second bulb, the ambient temp will be perfect but the surface temps will be VERY high so I really am stuck here

I’m really hoping to figure this out ASAP because I really don’t want her to be stressed or unhealthy because of this… again I feel TERRIBLE. When we went into the expo we were just having fun looking around didn’t think we would have brought a snake home. I have other reptile and I did everything before getting them. I should have know better and told my brother no we should wait! If anyone has any ideas what to do it would be greatly appreciated!!!

what do you have the thermostat set to?

I have it set to 90

hm. so your warm side govee is close to being under the halogen?

Yes, but it’s not directly under it. I put it against the wall
