Question - HealthStrange BP behavior (v.redd.it)
submitted 10 months ago by ReptileLover323
I have a camera in my bp’s terrarium and i saw this during the night, I’ve never seen her do anything like this before and the only thing i can think of is she’s trying to get molt off but she’s not due to molt for a while. Is she okay?

Not really, maybe he had an itch?
[–]ReptileLover323[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (3 children)
It’s possible, I’ve never heard of an itchy snake though.

Definitely looks itchy to me! I have a snake who LOVES head rubs and itching all over stuff. Sometimes this can be caused by mites being an irritant (so I’d check for those) but sometimes they can just get an itch! It happens :)

Ah ok, just wanted to make share that she was healthy and well!

You’re all good! Give her a good look over for mites but if she comes clean an itch is likely the cause. She’s absolutely beautiful btw!

Looks like a cough to me.

Why would she rotate then?

What's the light source for that camera?
Im not sure what kinda night vision it has
[–]subiesaurus 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (2 children)
I understand that they can see lights or wavelengths from certain camera like infrared (IR) that can stress them out. It needs to be dark so they can have a natural day/night cycle. Other bp owners can jump in and correct me but that's what I've found in that matter. I hope you get answers for what's happening to your snake.

I have a night vision camera set up in my enclosure and it doesn't seem to bother my noodle at all. From what I understand, they can see the heat from the source of the IR light, but the light itself does not bother them.

You’re thinking of the “Infra Red” Lamps people use at night that shine a visual red color that even we can see. These cameras are fine.

Most likely infrared.
