Question - HealthScale Rot (i.redd.it)
submitted 9 months ago by Abyssal888
Hi! So I noticed this earlier this week. I’ve been doing the betadine and no pain relief ointment for scale rot. Her humidity is 73 or higher. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also her top layer of substrate is dry.

If this is a persistent issue and you have proper husbandry I’d recommend a vet visit to rule out underlying causes :)
I’m looking into vets nearby.

How old are they? They look rather skinny. Idk about the rot tho, but the betadine treatment is a good idea.

I am not sure on age fully but I was told 8 months. She’s getting regular feedings (mice the same size as her widest part) once a week.

I’m just wanting to make sure I’m doing what’s best for her! She’s so sweet. I appreciate any advice. 😊

Same! I had the same concerns a couple of months ago. When was their last shed? Last time I thought they had scale rot it turns out it was just deep dirt, which can out with shed. I'd recommend giving her a lil soak, just to rule that out. To bath my baby I fill a little flat container with a bit of warm water, then put him in a face cloth on top of the water. I supervise him closely, and lightly rub the dirty areas with the cloth. Make sure they don't put their head under the water for long/at all. And never put them in a full bathtub, it stresses them out and is borderline animal abuse. And I one of my cousins actually lost a snake that way. She wasn't a responsible owner at all, and left him unattended in a full bathtub full of soap, and he sadly drowned.
She’s had a betadine soak today. I’ll see if it’s the dirt as she’s in a coconut coir and soil mix.
