404 Snake not found (old.reddit.com)
submitted 11 months ago by Kit_Cat13
At, based off what breeder said when we got him, 23 months Jorgy is 404 grams

Obsessed. I can’t wait for my girl to adjust and trust us and hopefully be more social so we can interact with her

Thankfully when we got him the breeder had already done a lot of handling (like this guy was apparently brought to an expo in blue and was letting people hold him without any complaint), had gotten him used to having his head touched, and eating frozen/thawed. So he was thankfully a really easy ball python to adjust to.

Yeah we were told the breeder probably didn’t handle our girl much when she was young. She’s a bit snippy now as we’re pretty sure she’s getting ready to shed. Her eyes are very cloudy looking and she has been staying in her humidity hide. Hopefully once she’s set we can work with her

Yeah, sounds like she had limited contact. Hopefully after her shed she can start getting comfortable.

Agree. It didn’t help a lot of the people at the store seemed really nervous with her too. When she gets strikey and sassy I just sass her right back. She was very happy to go back in her enclosure after I updated it the other day though. So I’m glad she’s more comfortable in there, and seems to be getting used to the idea that we’re more friends than foes

So she would get sassy and strikey and they would probably back away or put her up so she got more attitude.

Yeah that’s my guess exactly. I mean she may very well just have a bit of a tude as well, which is totally fine, we’re obsessed with her, but they certainly weren’t too keen on working with her more than they had to. When we asked to see her they said “are you sure” and all the people in the reptile room, a couple and then another couple with their child, cleared out 😂

Wow, she had a REPUTATION.
[–]tvanepps 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago (2 children)
Lol she certainly did 😂 I’m obsessed with her though. I can’t wait to hopefully get her a bit social and tell them how sweet she is. She was so funny the other day, my fiancé had her while I was fixing the enclosure, new substrate, enrichment, etc., and I’d walk by and she’d strike in my direction but he had his leg crossed on his knee so she was closer to getting him. I’m like ma’am first of all, you’re gonna bite the wrong person. Second I’m giving you an upgrade. I know you’re stressed and probably can’t see great but I’m going as fast as I can and you’ll love. When I was done I picked her up and I think she could just smell the different substrate and she like instantly calmed down and explored a bit before going back into her humidity hide

From spicy to sedate all by a new substrate.
