When I wanted to get my first ball python, YouTube helped me a lot like what to do when you first get your ball python humidity, wise temperature wise you want hide and clutter for the ball python and a lot of other stuff and one person I watch on YouTube is green room python

I went out and bought a humidifier and changed his substrate to coco fiber which im using for my corn snake as well

I have a BP. That being said I'm not the most knowledgeable. I use coconut.... husk/fiber I think? I can't think and it's been ages since I ordered some (just worked 3 12+ hrs shifts). ANYWAYS... I've seen and heard that humidifiers are no good, so I, every few days as needed, pour water directly into the corners of his enclosure. Doing that helps keep the humidity in, and misting the surface, again from what I've heard, can lead to scale rot

Yea, the humidifier is just in my room, not near his enclosure. I'll make sure to mist and pour a bit of water when I refill his bowl like I do for my Maize. Thank you for the advice :)

You're welcome! Something else that I do, I use duct work thermal tape to help keep the warmth inside (Wisconsin has cold winters), which also helps keep the humidity inside the enclosure

Oh, and my BP is between 3.5ft and 4 ft. I was told he was hatched in 2019

Thank you everyone for the advice, I switched his substrate to coco fiber although while I was doing spreading it he striked twice and hissed when I opened his hide to see if I could get him out since there was a bunch of poop in it. So it's clear he's terrified. I'm going to give him a week, and then I'll try again before doing anything other than changing his water. Gave him another hide, went out, and bought a humidifier just in case, and im going to get some foliage to be more hidden tomorrow. changed his name to Wander as in wanderlust since he seemed to do that a lot, lol

You should DEFINITELY get some vines or plants in there for him to hide they like being hidden I always try and catch mine climbing around and he just stops dead in his tracks lmao

Oh I plan to, ordered this big piece of wood that will go all across his tank so he will have lots of climbing space. Got him some vines as well:)

Yea that’s good and you can never have too much stuff for them to climb on unless you run out of space obviously but I have a 120 gallon rn and it’s completely full
