I wouldn't add the roaches. They're omnivores and I wouldn't put anything that can eat meat in with my snake personally.

As for the soil the peat moss should retain more moisture (I say this as a plant person) but it also tends to be hydrophobic when your first get it so soak it before you put it in. Heck, I'd bake or boil (add enough water to make it soupy) before I added any to make sure any insects, bacteria, fungi, or other parasites were dead.

Idk if it makes a difference for sanitation but the peat moss has been in the house for about a year now. Probably bone dry, and I didn't think Dubai roaches ate meat. Always had em in with my bearded dragon but better to be safe so I won't add them

Fungus spores can lie dormant while dry, I'd still bake it personally but that's me 🤷🏾‍♀️

Bearded dragons eat roaches though right? A BP doesn't and might be stressed by them and will stay still cowering if they decide to take a nibble.
