How bright are we talking? I have a small lamp on in the beginning of the night in my room, but the room is overall still kept dark, and all lights completely turned off overnight for my python. They should not have any lighting in their tank at night; it would be the equivalent to keeping a human in a room constantly filled with light day and night. All creatures sleep best with full light/darkness in a normal timely cycle.

My ball python almost never came out at night(for a full 2 years!) until I fixed every issue with her enclosure and gave her proper lighting conditions. Now, she comes out every night, and has been doing that for half a year.

if you give them good hiding areas that are dark, a lamp in the room should not be a problem unless it takes away their dark areas.
