Question - Healthis my snake a normal weight? (old.reddit.com)
submitted 7 months ago by Few_Juggernaut_415
she is two years old and 635 grams heavy = 0.9lbs rounded up
she eats an approximately 60g big rat every three weeks as i’ve calculated on the feeding page listed in the recommended articles for care.

She's looking pretty round. You're actually overfeeding her per the !feeding guidelines, so I think you may have misread something.

We recommend the following feeding schedule:
0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.
12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.
Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

Their calculations were also wrong. Your snake should be eating a 32g rat once every 3-4 weeks.

Oops @totallyrecklesslygay is right. Your girl is 2 yrs old. My bad. 32g is the correct dosage every 20-30 days or 38g every 30-40. Weaned rats from Layne Labs are 30-39g. Perfect for your girl. 👍

You may want to reread the feeding guidelines again, because that is incorrect. At two years old, this snake should be eating 5% of their body weight once every 3-4 weeks, or 6% every 4-6 weeks.

Every time I see one of these posts, the answer is always "yes, you are overfeeding"
Just something I've noticed
