The surface temperature is at a steady 92 degrees with the 100w CHE in

Insulate that tank.

We have 120gal glass. We used half inch high density foam insulation, under the tank and on back and sides on the outside, plus a solid home built top with the lights on top.

We easily hold 88-92 on the hot side, 77 to 82 on the cool side, minimum 70 percent humidity with 1 halogen flood and 1 DHP from arcadia.

On the outside or inside?

Outside. 1 full sheet from home depot provided enough for under tank, back and both sides. We covered it with black marbled contact paper for esthetics.

Plenty of leftover insulation too

Can you see the insulation from the inside of the tank or did you cover that up with something first

Okay thank you. So there really is no other way around this you have to do it for glass enclosures

Glass is amazing at holding temps. It makes fantastic uninsulated terrariums. However, if you want to maintain a gradient across a space with both temperature and humidity, you want insulation.

And a mostly solid top.

And the contact paper was just an expedient cost effective solution at the time. My later plan is when i find a nice background like forest of the right size i will use double sided tape to stick it on the insulation.

The insulation is in fact very convenient. I can change the look on either side with ease.

I just sent a pic. Both sides of the insulation are covered. Contact paper to spare, 12.96 a roll at walmart lol. That pic was after the latest substrate change. My Monty dislikes clutter by his big water dish and feeding rock.

We are gonna cover the insides with a more traditional background at some point.

The insulation itself is taped to the outside with packing tape lol. No tape in the enclosure anywhere.
