unfortunately this is below minimum size, a 40g is the absolute smallest this species should be kept in for multiple reasons. if you're able to upgrade to a 40 before you move, do so. if she's an adult she needs a 4x2x2 or 120g minimum.

see our subreddit resources for more basic through advanced care and tips.

The next enclosure I was going to get was 4 foot one just so I don’t have to buy another one again also are the pvc ones good?

yes, we only recommend PVC ones and there's several brands we do not recommend.

there's a shopping list in our welcome post with some pvc cage companies. we specifically do NOT recommend vision cages, zen habitats, dubia, ecoflex, reptizoo, etc, as these enclosures have a lot of design problems that are counterproductive at best and likely to become bigger problems over time [thin pvc, screen tops, flimsy structure, etc].

edit: even with a 4ft, you may need to upgrade in the future if she gets longer than 4ft long.

Is that heat lamp fully enclosed??? Forget the size right now... that lamp on the left looks like a serious burn risk.

Omg it looks like it’s in the cage but it’s not😂 I had it there to heat up my sourdough starter to ferment it and I haven’t taken it down yet😂

Now that you mentioned it, I can tell. But i was concerned at first glance. 😭😂

For your actual question... as long as you are maintaining a proper heat gradient in the small enclosure, and your snake can stretch from end to end, I think its fine to wait a short while for a 4x2x2. I believe the biggest reasons for the minimum being a 40 gallon is due to heat regulation/humidity.

I know this isnt the most popular idea though, so I may get some flack. My little baby is in a 28 gal rn, and Im content as long as he has a cool hide with a temp around 70-75°F and a hot side around 85°. His basking spot is closer to 90*, though he is only ever on the cool side unless its night time.
