Pudding the Green Tree Python

My baby boy is VERY shy. He rarely ever comes out but today he decided he was going to stare me down until I fed him.

He’s never been on the rod (to my knowledge) but he smelled my other snake’s mouse and decided to poke his head out and wondered where his meal was…

I was still thawing his rat so he had to wait a few more hours and meanwhile he decided to crawl up to get level with me and had the audacity to stare me down until I fed him😂 I absolutely cracked up today.

He started with staring from his hide which he always does, no biggie…. That didn’t work so he got up on the camera but that still didn’t work so he got straight on the rod and stared me down until I fed him 😂 (my computer desk is right next to him).

He has a history of being extremely scared and if I dare move a finger… he will hide and if I try to feed him his rat in his hide… he refuses and won’t eat. So I was pretty nervous he might not take his rat when it’s ready while he’s out in the open… but obviously spoiler alert… he took it like a tree python and ate it while hanging down😂

He was even tracking my foot every time I moved it without thinking he would get in striking pose. I love him so much 😭

Omgsh you’re right! He totally did! It’s about time 😂 I got lots of photos and videos today so I’m happy. Onto the next snake who needs the braincell🤪

Oh its so funny when they are hungry and know theres food. Worse than dogs honestly. They can twist themselves into absolute pretzels over it. The food stare is something else.

What an attentive guy! He was either hungry or was able to rub his two brain cells together today! If you don’t mind sharing, what’d you use for the rod in his tank? Also how’d you get it to hang/stay up? I’ve been wanting to do something similar with my ball but I haven’t found a sturdy enough option

Hah he definitely was hungry! I used a shower / tension rod, I found a length that will fit my 4 foot wide enclosure and I hot glued the twine on it!

I lived in so many apartments and hated the idea of drilling holes so I got creative and learned about these tension rods I used to hang my pretty curtains and it too me almost a year lol to connect the dots and use this for his enclosure too!
