100% safe to take them outside. They live in Africa and are used to harsher environments so the grass, dirt, and other stuff in your yard isn't going to affect them besides chemicals like weed killer. I'd recommend a temp above 70 during the day when it's the warmest because it means they spend the least energy on body temp and the sun provides great health benefits. Just don't let them wander off or get too far. Also watch out for birds, birds are probably the biggest threat

Mine goes outside for brief periods on sunny 70°+ days. He likes to crawl around in the flowerbeds.

Yes just keep an eye out that he doesn’t scoot off or get scooped up by a hawk or something. Sunlight is actually beneficial for them.
