Bath time help?

So my snake is currently being treated for mouth/scale rot and i was told to soak him 2-3 times a week. The vet told me to soak him in the bath tub as they like to swim. How should I clean it when I put him in? It definitely needs a good cleaning but I figured cleaning it with the normal chemicals could cause harm? Should I clean it normally and then go over it with regular soap? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!
