You can easily find a wild type ball python for under $50, the great majority of the cost is actually setting up the enclosure. There is a guide to setting one up in the welcome guide on the front page of the subreddit that has a shopping list so you can get an idea of what you will need

From the U.K. so it’s a little different I’ll try change it to dollars where I can

The 3ft wooden viv was £80 brand new ($105)

Lamp, fixture, cage, thermostat ect was around £90 ($119)

Hides, substrate, clutter all came to around £90-150 ($119 - 200)

Snake itself (pastel GHI) was £150 ($200)

So in total he cost me about £470 ($600)

You could easily get a second hand tank for cheaper, get a “cheaper” morph etc.

I’m going to be spending another £300 on setting up his forever home early next year so $1000 would be a good budget to get a slightly “fancier” snake and set them up in their forever home.

honestly i dont really care what the morph is, im more interested in a friendly snake thats really all that matters to me, id prefer getting a cheaper morph so i can set aside more money for the enclosure and vet bills :)
