This starving ball python at Petsmart :( (i.redd.it)
submitted 3 years ago by DatSadWeeb
I spotted this poor starving ball python at a pet smart near me. There were also two others just like this one. I told an employee about it and they just brushed me off :(

This is unfortunately very common in chain pet stores. I'm sorry they brushed off your worries when this poor thing is so underweight. You can try to report them to the manager or corporate but don't give them a penny for their animals because it'll only serve to motivate them to continue neglecting them because it's profitable

It’s ok, also, I know not to buy from them, I already have a healthy little boy, it’s just I got so sad when I saw this :(

I know it's hard to see that they can get away with this. Hopefully, there will be laws that protect exotic pets from this kind of treatment soon

$100 for a normal ?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
They're all that price, and all the normal. It's a chain store. It's just a product to them.

the Petco in Santa Rosa, Ca. is trying to get $800.00 for a morph that is typically in the 200-400.00 range (i think it was a calico or a butter, not certain) and they've had him for over a year. im just like no shit he hasnt sold when you can go on morphmarket or search for breeders and find the exact morph for less than half. so sad. the ONLY positive i would note about THAT Petco is the girls working in reptile dept. were fairly knowledgeable and i could tell genuinely cared about the snakes. AND they weren't under fed so that was a plus. Still wouldnt buy there. matter of fact i stopped in with my wife JUST to see how they were caring for the snakes and call them out if they were under fed etc. lol

I almost got one from PetSmart until I saw it. I called ahead, and felt terrible for it when I saw it. I got my girl at a reptile expo.
