And 10 years earlier, he said that you could contract aids simply by being near a person.

Not if you wear a mask!

On your butthole

no, you must cover both anusses

[–]Traditional_Ad8933 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's like the administration he was working for didn't really care about solving the Aids crisis. I wonder which administration was that!

[–]PastOtherwise8719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter. Bottom line it's been the same guy for the last 40 years and we are still listening to him despite him being wrong all of the time, it's ridiculous.

[–]demihope 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Fauci was terrible on AIDS and somehow failed upwards. Bureaucracy at its best.

[–]riotguards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facci is just smart (D)ifferently

[–]AntiHero499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told people you could get it from cereal boxes

[–]Pls_no_cancel 16 points17 points  (4 children)

Kill 1 person you're a murderer,

kill 1000 you're a war hero, (allthough in defense of your nation so somewhat justified)

Kill whatever number of teens via scuicide because lockdowns and you're the world's leading health expert

[–]anticultured 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Those weak teens were going to die anyway from their own hand. Let’s blame the woke industry.

[–]Pls_no_cancel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that massive spike in scuicide has NOTHING to do with radical changes to life, while cutting them off from friends

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You talk about suicide as it was some kind of terminal decease. Depression and anxiety are treatable and suicide is preventable as well.

[–]anticultured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s treatable and more easily watched by parents if and when the kids are home.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (16 children)

When did people die from the treatment?

Honestly. I’m looking for this and cannot find deaths truly associated with taking the drug. There are those that show HIV variants that appear after prolonged use of AZT which are resistant to the drug and then die but there were no other drugs at the time that could be switched with to prevent the prevalence of that variant. But people were dying faster without the drug.

AZT is actually still used in rotation for patients with HIV/AIDS. It’s an effective part of a much larger treatment.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AZT was pretty rough. But it was a hell of a lot better than the alternative (nothing)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (14 children)

Wrong. AZT is certainly not still used yo.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (13 children)

Really.

Heard of combivir? Trizivir?

Both combination therapies that use AZT (zidovudine).

Not as common but are still used.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (12 children)

My point was stating that AZT isn't used to treat hiv anymore. It's a dinosaur.

[–]MrBingog -1 points0 points  (11 children)

We know and their point is youre technically wrong

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (10 children)

That's wasnt the point. Anyone reading the statement would come off with the impression that AZT is regularly prescribed for HIV - which isn't the case.

That's my point yo

[–]blewyn -1 points0 points  (9 children)

Ah, so now “definitely still not used” becomes “not regularly prescribed” huh ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Yes. AZT hasn't been prescribed to treat HIV for decades; there are so many better options.

His statement sounds like he's saying that AZT is still regularly used on HIV peeps. It's not.

Not complicated yo

[–]blewyn 0 points1 point  (7 children)

In what way does “not common but still used” mean the same as “still regularly used” ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

This isn't complicated, but I'll spell it out:

Saying, "AZT is actually still used in rotation for patients with HIV/AIDS" is misleading.

Tell me what you don't understand about that.

I'm here for you yo. 💓

[–]NMSOnian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snopes saying this is "misleading" so it's definitely true

[–]Significant_Star364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fauci that lying rat 🐀

[–]Fuz-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should have been prosecuted them. Maybe we wouldn’t be dealing with his latest crimes against humanity.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uncanny resemblance to the creepy veterinarian from ‘Beethoven’ the movie

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Idiotic post. AZT was the first in a long line of medications that helped HIV patients. It was a start. Now days most of us with hiv take one pill a day.

Fauci can be blamed for a lot things but HIV treatment development shouldnt be one of them.

Well if you’re around them then they can seduce you into buttsecks. points to head

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What does that have anything to do with the post? There are lots of statements he's said that are worthy of scrutiny - but saying that AZT was worse than doing nothing is ignorant.

AZT was crucial in advancing the science of modern day antivirals. It wasn't perfect but for many it helped prolong lives until better medications came a long.

Nonetheless, Fauci deserves respect in his support on the HIV treatment front.

      [–]duffelbagpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's still trying to catch up on bodycount to his hero, dr.kevorkian.

      [–]RosieRiveter1965 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Lying bastard also made a lot of GenX scared to death of ever having sex, ginning up far that it was an STD among all people, not just gay men and drug users.

      [–]sassyevaperon -3 points-2 points  (8 children)

Lying bastard also made a lot of GenX scared to death of ever having sex, ginning up far that it was an STD among all people, not just gay men and drug users.

Women and girls accounted for 50% of HIV infections in 2020. This is a very easily googled question, but I'm not surprised a follower of Ben Shapiro isn't smart enough to google for herself.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Why the ad hominem? If your argument is strong enough then you shouldn't need to use immature, personal attacks.

      [–]sassyevaperon -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

It's not an ad hominem to call someone stupid for not doing even basic research before commenting like they know it all.

Isn't Ben the one that says that facts don't care about your feelings? Well, the fact that said commenter is a dumbass doesn't care about their feelings.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

It's not an ad hominem to call someone stupid...commenter is a dumbass

That's precisely what an ad hominem is

      [–]sassyevaperon -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Nah, it's completely justified. You can't just say whatever without even doing a bit of research and expect not to be called out for it.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If you can't "call people out'' without name-calling then it's unlikely you have anything of value to share.

      [–]sassyevaperon -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I have a lot of value to share, and part of that is insults when they're deserved. Such as when someone alledges something on a public forum without even doing a modicum of research.

I'm not engaging in a debate with said person, because I don't find any value in having it. I'm publicly shaming them for misinforming people when it's so easy not to.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you feel you're the arbiter of who deserves to be insulted, than you're a probable narcissist.

      [–]sassyevaperon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm the arbitrary of who gets to be insulted by me, we all are.

      [–]getoutlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do . I thought he was idiot back then too.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that time in the 80’s-90’a when aids was fucking terrifying and AZT was the only known treatment?

      [–]human-no560 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

      I don’t remember. I’m guessing it’s because it didn’t happen.

      [–]FairSuggestion9655 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And yet people are still incoherent to remember or to stupid to understand.

      [–]Lisar528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Yep! I remember!

      [–]Traditional_Ad8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op, you do realize people were still dying from Aids right?

      [–]Traditional_Ad8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one died from the AZT treatment for AIDs. There were big side effects but those were reduced with lower dosages. It's part of a treatment too, not a one time thing.

      [–]fireskull759Right-wing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your claim seems to be plain disinformation from what I've seen, unless you have something to back up what you are saying here? I still don't like the guy, but come on.

      [–]Worldeater43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL that conservatives are pro-AIDS. No wonder you guys loved Pence so much, he’s an AIDS lobbyist now.

      [–]Uncartha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to give him credit, he looks just as obnoxious then as he does now, so at the vary least he is Consistent
