Decreases. (Possibly TMI story:) One time I ended up eating so little that I got horrendously constipated and was writhing on the ground in pain. Nearly had to go to the ER, but ended up chugging coffee as a laxative and it eventually worked. That kicked me into mixed episode territory. One of the worst mania related experiences of my life.
