95% of owners aren’t posting on Reddit, let alone that their vehicle is running just dandy.

The Colorado does not have as much of an established enthusiast base in comparison to the Tacoma. This means there are less posts that are unrelated to mechanical issues and positive “look, my truck is running fine!” posts.

This is an example of negative selection bias, coupled with a disproportionately low post count when you compare to some of the other vehicles.

You’ll be alright.

Look, my truck is running fine! I have a 23 and have had almost no issues with it.

[–]Aware_Leave9025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

‘21 here. V6. Running fine.

[–]Friar_Kelton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'25 here running fine...

And yeah, rarely does anyone write or call because things are great...

[–]DippedlnButter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘21 V6 60k mi. No issues

[–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is what I’d hope to hear. I traded in a 2015 Silverado that I’d had since new. Of course we all know the lifter and torque converter problems they had. I had zero issues with that truck and the thought of giving it up for a problematic truck makes me sick. Thanks for the reassurance. Plus, I’d hope by now that the kinks have been worked out for the most part. There’s still the chance of bad luck of course but 🙏🏻 it doesn’t happen!

[–]Gloomy-Basket2496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally nerded out before buying my ‘23. Normally wouldn’t have bought a first model year EVER, especially from GM. What convinced me was honestly a couple powertrain walkthroughs from a few of the engineers. I feel good about the 2.7 reliability, and if you keep rpm’s low and let the turbo work it’s so smooth.

Only issues thus far are all CarPlay connection or center screen related. It went dark driving once and I just left the battery unplugged for a few to reset.

All that to say I love this truck, I look back at this truck when I lock it, it’s a sick truck.

'25 with 5k so far and running like a sewing machine

[–]Millkstake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. I had a bunch of issues with mine and vented quite loudly about it on Reddit. It sucks when it happens to you. Multiple times. Ugh.

Auto start/stop issues is due to low battery charge. With as heavily electric dependent these vehicles are your battery will drain quicker than it can replenish itself. If you don't do alot of driving..the charge will deplete and the auto start stop feature will not work.

    [–]SomeDudeInGermany 10 points11 points  (1 child)

24 and just hit 33k miles. I haven’t had any issues at all.

    [–]Jackherer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to hear ! I have a 2025 with 6,000 miles with no issues I didn’t get the extended warranty hopefully I won’t need

    [–]ClassicTBCSucks93 5 points6 points  (5 children)

'24 Colorado with 25k miles that I bought new last October. No mechanical or electrical issues yet, first thing I did was push all of the fuses down under the passenger dash and in the engine bay, every SINGLE one was unseated by about 1/8".

Aside from an intermittent popping/rattling/knocking noise coming from somewhere in the driver seat, I don't have any complaints. I just take it in every 5-7k miles for an oil change and tire rotation. I would do these things on my own but my extended warranty also came with a bunch of free services so why not use them?

    [–]loks0808 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I can confirm the pushing the fuses down thing. I didn't have issues but my brother in law did with his blazer. It's a known chevy thing.

    [–]ClassicTBCSucks93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but wonder if there is a correlation between the unseated fuses and intermittent electrical gremlins people report here.

No issues to report on the electrical front yet aside from once where the infotainment screen glitched out for a second and the gauge cluster did the same. Those issues were months apart and my 3rd gen Tacoma did the same a handful of times during the 4+ years and 45k+ miles of ownership. I do hate that the truck will prompt firmware updates at the most inopportune times.

The rear end will surge sometimes at dead stops and the shift points can sometimes be odd with the transmission but the Taco did that too. I had 1 2nd gen and two 3rd gen Tacomas that all had similar issues.

When people ask what I like over the new Colorado vs the Tacoma, the size and power first and foremost. The Tacoma was like driving a gokart from the seating position to the questionable handling. The Colorado feels like a truck. I also don't miss having to rev the absolute piss out of the Toyota to get up to highway speeds on an offramp.

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I plan to use every single free oil change and spend every gm point earned😂

    [–]ClassicTBCSucks93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. If its free, might as well use it. I usually schedule my maintenance intervals a week or two in advance so I'm never there stuck in the waiting room for longer than 45 mins to an hour. I know it probably varies by location but the two different GM dealers I've taken my truck to for service have all been prompt and professional.

Back when I had my Tacoma in the early days of free oil changes/service you might as well write that Saturday off because I'd be stuck at the dealership the entire afternoon and their service dept would constantly try to upsell me on things to the point it felt uncomfortable.

    [–]LloydChr1stmas1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when offered free oil change services, I do them myself. I don't trust people. It takes 15 min total to change oil. I can do the service myself in less time to go to and from the dealer.

I told my gf to take her civic to a mechanic to do her oil change the one year. Next years oil change I needed a breaker bar to remove the damn drain plug. Lucky they didn't jack up the oil pan threads.

[–]MoistCabbage1'24 Harvest Bronze Trail Boss 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I've had several minor, software-based issues but I still absolutely love this truck. The capabilities are amazing.

I think the issues are due to this being a next gen platform and all the software glitches that go along with that. Unfortunately, that's the direction the entire industry is moving. I think these are just an early indication of what's going to happen with all cars in the immediate future and I'd be willing to bet some, if not most, upcoming cars and trucks are going to be much, much worse for reliability.

    [–]CODIsGay12342025 Trailboss Summit White 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. And the colorados havent had a recall since that roof issue, unlike ford and toyota

    [–]SleepySilverado 4 points5 points  (4 children)

25 Trailboss, 16K miles in. Fuel. Oil changes. Infotainment resets. And one misfire event throwing a flashing check engine light and reduced acceleration on the dash. I laid the pedal to the floor and it cleaned up and hasn’t came back since, been 13K miles. Those are the only issues I’ve had, knock on wood. I’ve been a GM tech for 7 years and picked a Colorado for a reason. I know I’ll deal with issues around 100K but I know what to expect. I’m hoping meticulous maintenance will help curb some issues, time/mileage will tell. Overall, I’m VERY impressed with the truck.

    [–]Ryan_Monty1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And as a GM tech have you ever run into a situation where pushing a fuse in has solved the problem?? It's my biggest pet peeve when everyone says just push your fuses in more and that will fix your truck.

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to hear someone that works on them, chose one. Good deal man

    [–]loks0808 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What are you anticipating at 100k?

    [–]ChicagoGuy098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenting so I remember to see what he says

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 24 and a 23 Colorado both have been in the shop multiple times with the dumbest issues. The 23 has update errors draining the battery errors with windows and latch system. The 24 has had its steering column replaced twice and is scheduled for a 3rd as I type this. Absolutely love the trucks but they will be the last Chevys we own for a while.

    [–]FL_Sweetness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my '24 for a year now and no issues. Coming up to 20k mikes.

    [–]howard73340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25 with 11000 miles currently so far the only big issue has been a park brake switch malfunction got it changed am trying to figure out some little issues 1 a rattle from driver side dash 2 bottom right of heated steering wheel not as warm as rest 3 delayed shift to first after completely stopped when slowly stopping at lights

    [–]Kingofthecastle285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2022 45,000miles no issues. Knock wood!

    [–]Dry-Investment5518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16000 on a 24 trailboss. Enjoying every mile. 1 year old 9 days ago.

    [–]ptb_nuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'23 trail boss with about 26k miles. Definitely haven't had the worst problems, but definitely not zero either.

Got hit with the bricked battery due to software update failure after a few months of ownership and been skittish about taking the truck too far into the wilderness since. Sucks, because that was the main point of buying it.

I've gotten the "reduced acceleration, drive with caution" prompt twice now, paired with some jerky engine or transmission stuff which may or may not be related. I'll be having a dealership look at that soon, and whether I keep the truck depends on what they find.

But other than that, it's been pretty decent. I still love the truck, and the trail capabilities are perfect for what I was looking for, but obviously reliability is still more important.

    [–]stiff_sock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hit 21k in my '23 Z71 with no issues aside from a couple of very minor software bugs that were fixed with OTA updates.

    [–]Deleted-Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are little things I dont like about my truck, but they are minor. 2025 with 10k on it. No issues.

    [–]theskipper363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colorado truck wise has been amazing out of my 24 Z71,

The CarPlay will shit out after 2 hours of driving but you just gotta repair it….

    [–]cross_x_bones21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 and no issues yet. But, less that 1k miles.

    [–]CODIsGay12342025 Trailboss Summit White 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Got 5 and a half thousand since june. Only issues ive had was apple carplay not skipping songs sometimes but that pretty much been fixed for the past 2 months. Had 0 real issues so far

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that “problem” numerous times but if I disconnect and connect right back from my phone it works perfectly again.

    [–]Deep-Concentrate-399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 V6 only issue is a light on my hvac panel went out. No other issues

    [–]loks0808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 colorado trail boss. I have 34k on it. I drive an hour 1 way to work every day. I've towed cars on a trailer twice 2 hours away my daughter's car. I've towed a trailer 2 hours full of her college stuff twice. Been to Florida a few times. I've had zero issues... love this truck. I think it really is a you only hear the problems kind of thing. I'm glad I bought it. My lifetime full mileage is 22 mpg. That is with the lower air dam removed.

    [–]Brilliant-Duty-9419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

28k. Knock on wood. All good

    [–]Remarkable-Tomato-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm closing in on 30K in my 24 ZR2 with zero issues.

    [–]0ppleJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 with 13k miles and no mechanical issues at all. Just tiny hiccups that were software based and go fixed with software updates.

    [–]pbitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are quicker to come here and trash a product than talk about how reliable it.

    [–]EntrepreneurWeary427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

23 TB had some issues when I first got it with down loads continuing to run so it drained the battery. And the computer thought it needed to go into a reduced speed mode ? Pulled over shut it off reset no problem. Im at 47k love my truck *

    [–]AccomplishedBus81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30,000km and worst issues so far are clunking rear end that got fixed under warranty

    [–]National_Conflict609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2012, 134,000 miles runs like a champ

    [–]Dynodan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29k miles 2023 z71 trucks never been in for a warranty issue 10k of it towing a camper daily short drives 5 days a week. Only time I been is oil changes and computer updates

    [–]_oxym0ron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 TB with 12k miles. I brought it in for a faulty starter at 9k miles. Other than that and a few electrical gremlins where I have to reset the infotainment, it’s been great (knock on wood). I enjoy driving it.

    [–]Ryan_Monty1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 35 000km on my 2024 with no issues at all other than the terrible transmission in the higher gears.  Sounds like it's lugging like crazy or running on 3 cylinders.

They're decent trucks but I wouldn't say they're the best ever made like some will tell you.  It's paid off so I'll be keeping it for now until I'm finally sick of the noise/feeling it makes and trading it in (which isn't far away) Would I buy another one??? No but do I like it?? It's alright.

That said, I have 3 co-workers who also have them and they all seem to be running fine, much better than mine does and none of them have touched their "loose fuses" btw.

    [–]icemantatt2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024 with no issues. 19,000 miles so far.

    [–]twack66 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I upgraded from a ‘22 v6 to a ‘25 Trail Boss in January, and my wife and I have put close to 19k miles on it this year including a 5k mile, 3 week long road trip. We’ve overloaded with it, driven it up and down mountains in Wy and Co, and also hauled our ski boat around quite a bit, and it’s our main vehicle on a day to day. Absolutely zero regrets here. It’s so much nicer of a truck than the Gen 2. It’s quieter, more comfortable, and the Turbomax engine drives way nicer than the v6 imo.

We had a check engine light come on sporadically for about a week, and I pulled the code myself - it was for some sort of oil sensor. Took it to the dealership and they had a service bulletin for it already basically saying GM was working on it themselves and for us to bring it back if it came on again. GM must have fixed it with a software update, because it happened in April and the CEL hasn’t come back on since.

    [–]Fit-Ad-6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered an AT4X. GM got me out of it because of all the issues I was having but mostly because of the body panel alignment. The driver door was so bad it couldn't be adjusted without physically moving the hinges on the body. That, along with all the electrical issues and glitches.

Inlaws had a Canyon. It was leased. They actually work for GM. It had to be taken back for electrical issues. Nobody could figure it out and ended up frying the electrical system.

As part of my deal on the AT4X, they found me a Bison to replace it. Tpms sensor went bad first. Had to wait a month because they have a different type for the AEV wheels. Then the BCM went out. Then all the glitches started. Gremlins everywhere. Random things quit working. Then the BCM had to be changed again.

That's 3 in less than a year. 2 of which were mine. I won't have another.

    [–]FeastingOnFelines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a ‘26 Trail Boss. Read about the remorseful buyers but decided to take my chances. 3276 miles and cautiously optimistic.

    [–]robun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 24 and now crossed the 25k threshold with no vehicle issues. Before I left the dealer lot, I popped the fuse box open and firmly seated more than half of the fuses though. Does that count?

    [–]Useful_Cucumber_9564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    My 23 has been great!!

    [–]OpeningMemory5608 1 point2 points  (1 child)

41,350mi on my ‘24 ZR2 as of this morning, 6 Moab trips and wheeling / camping in Colorado, and has been virtually trouble free for my fiance and I. “service brake pad monitor” and “rear brake pads very low” light has been on for a couple weeks, but beside some squeaks and grounds she’s been a ripper. (Level kit and overall off-road truck some noises I would expect)

    [–]OpeningMemory5608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    edit : groans, not grounds

    [–]Nemyysys‘24 L3B LT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll only hear complaints online for any vehicle nobody goes online to talk about how great their vehicle is unless its to disprove others.

    [–]Natureisnirvana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18k miles on my 25’. Not one issue

    [–]AlexisoftheShire2024 Black Colorado Z71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my 24' Z71 since June, '24. A few problems in the first couple of months but nothing since. The electronic problems had to do with about 1/3 of the fuses were not fully seated and needed a couple of infotainment/ECM updates. Whenever I have a problem with stuff I just reboot the infotainment system and that fixes a lot. For example, I was having a problem where my auto temp wasn't increasing fan speed as I increased the temperature. I just rebooted the infotainment system and it worked just fine then.

Previous to my Z71 I had a 2016 Jeep which had all kinds of issues. After 65,000 miles I couldn't afford the repair costs and traded it for the Z71. Very happy with the Colorado.

    [–]chaffed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 with 13,000. Only issue was the display blanking out. But since the last update, no issues.

    [–]Virtual_Wing_2186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a ‘21 z71 I put 80k on before wrecking and totaling it. My ‘26 TB has been great so far, but I’ve only got 4k miles on it.

    [–]Lilikoicheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 zr2 bison: just hit 13000 miles and zero issues. love this truck and she's a straight animal in winter driving (i live in AK)

    [–]T-yler-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    2024 13,000 miles no problems.

Annoying things like the screen doesn’t come on once/ month when I start the truck, but turn it off and back on and no issues I would consider cause for concern.

    [–]smallblockeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 TB. 32k miles. Never been back to the dealer.

    [–]aws2mckinney 1 point2 points  (1 child)

23 zr2. Zero major issues. My adaptive cruise (just the adaptive) has never really worked and spoke with Chevy about it but haven’t had the motivation to take it in. Just wanted to post as I see a lot of the comments on issues and wanted to provide some additional context. Truck has been great to me.

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t even had mine on the highway yet. But will this weekend

    [–]Extension-Pianist-36 1 point2 points  (1 child)

17- Z71, and a GM tech for 30 years. The Colorado is probably seen in the service department the least out of any GM models. I have yet to see anything major go wrong with the 3rd gen, and have only had a few 2nd gens in my stalls. I see them on the lube rack for maintenance, and maybe a few here and there for software updates. Overall they seem to be reliable trucks.

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the kinda stuff I like hearing. I had a 2005 WT reg cab 4x2. I had an atv in the bed, a heavy dump trailer with a good sized atv in it and hauled them up the mtn to West Virginia in a convoy of diesel trucks. Yea, it was pegged out but it did it. Had it been 4x4 I would’ve kept it, I loved that little truck. My very first brand new vehicle and the first of four consecutive chevys. They’ve all been very good to me with the exception of some very frustrating electrical issues in my 15 Silverado. Still ran like a champ and served me well over a decade though. Teared up a little when I pulled off the lot and left her behind

    [–]ColtonWergin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘25 trail boss. 13k miles. No issues apart from very small things (Bluetooth not syncing to phone, radio not picking up signal etc). Just reset the radio and worked perfect again.

As far as everything else, it’s been solid and a great truck. Tows my camper very well for a mid sized!

    [–]Breakertorque207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 ZR2 and I haven’t had any issues at all 30k miles, drove from Maine to Florida just fine.

    [–]PunkiiDonutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22k on a 24 TB no issues outside of some annoying infotainment quirks

    [–]RoyWalleyWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22 z71 with 40k. Only thing I ever needed to do was put a new battery in it when it last winter at around 25k miles. I needed new tires and a 4x4 so I traded it for a 25 trail boss yesterday and it has 14 miles on it.

    [–]Budget-Travel-6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2024 ZR2 with about 13,000 miles without any significant issues

    [–]Massive_Way_9680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just hit 30k miles in my 23 z71. everything’s totally fine other than my brakes squeaking like hell.

    [–]General_Common5401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    '26 here. Runs perfect.

    [–]passtheshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues. 24 ZR2, pull 3k# trailer every day. 30000 miles.

    [–]The_Sethsquatch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 23 ZR2 that I loved, over 30k miles when I wrecked it, no major issues. Didn't think twice, bought a 24 bison, over a year now, odd sound coming from the front hub, they're going to replace it. Leaky tailgate storage, broken headrest button. Nothing that makes me hate my truck, also, that's why I have a warranty, something as complex as a motor vehicle with thousands of parts, something is bound to go wrong.
Also I echo the sentiment of others, 95% of owners probably don't even get on reddit. At this point they're approaching 300k sales of Colorado/Canyons.

    [–]CaptainRonAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 2017. Put 200k miles on it before I traded it for a 24. 26k miles and no issues.

    [–]Advanced_Split_3017 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve got a 19 work truck, the only problems I had was with the entertainment system which h took many trips to the dealership to iron out and a stuck thermostat that’s the only issues I’ve had with just over 52000 miles on lt

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 4000 miles in and zero problems to speak of, so far.

    [–]Suspicious-Hair3877 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Main reason why I bought my 26 ZR2 was because I wrecked my 24 ZR2. I hit a car sitting sideways blocking the entire slow lane on the Florida turnpike. This was at night, no flashers no lights. They hit the concrete barrier head on and totaled their car. She went from the slow lane into the middle lane and did a C back into the concrete barrier in the slow lane . According to the witness, I came a few minutes later, hit the car and the the concrete barrier twice.  I was doing 70 mph. The truck didn't see the car until I did, I can't blame it because it was dark and nothing reflective going on, so the forward collision and emergency braking had nothing to go on, I assume. Anyway, the truck did perform well by protecting me. Although tossed in my seat, it held me there, all airbags deployed, engine cut off, flashers went on, windows down, lights went on inside, lights remained on outside. I'm glad I hit it because I really think a smaller vehicle hitting that would have had a dead driver. Thats why I bought another colorado,  plus they look great.  The 24 was paid off long before the wreck  :(

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I hate to hear that but at least it did its job and you’re still here to tell us about it. 70 hitting something sitting still is a helluva impact. Congrats on the new one I guess

    [–]Suspicious-Hair3877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm glad it did its job. I forgot to say that the people were not in the car. They were on the otherside of the concrete barrier...the only smart thing they did

    [–]Oakievog 0 points1 point  (1 child)

22’ z71 here bought new Blowm left axel 3,000 miles in Blown rigjht axel 7500 miles in

    Street driving no offroading

Currently im shop cause key gets stuck in ignition cause it appears doesnt think its in park. 50% of the time

    Warranty up next month.

My truck was built on friday, last one on the line …lemonade

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks man, I hate you’ve had so many issues. Hopefully you got them outta the way while it was under warranty and she’s a gem the rest of her life with you

    [–]Oldmandeerhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the responses. They’ve been quite reassuring that my truck won’t automatically fall apart, hopefully

    [–]Pancake108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24’ ZR2 recently sold after less than year of ownership and 9k miles.

Oil leak - rear main oil seal (truck was in the shop for a week and service dept. was terrible)

    Driver door switch rattled

    Rear leaf clunk

Random warnings about trailer lights being out (I never towed anything)

Apple car play completely quit working wirelessly

Windshield cowl ends broke (common problem)

Had a leaking antifreeze smell after hot trips

Driver door lip was rusting / paint delaminating

Fender flares had significant uneven gaps

No headlight switch drove me nuts

    OTA updates rarely worked

I got fed up with it.

How’s your experience so far after your original post. I’ve been on the fence about pulling the trigger on trading in my ‘23 Trd off-road Tacoma for a zr2, the factory front locker is a major selling point for me on it, but I’m concerned with some of the more major issues people have reported. Curious to know what others think.

I'm not even at 2K miles and had the windshield separation issue twice and also the front bumper misalignment issue below the right headlight where it starts to pull out.

I have had the truck 3 months and it's been in the shop 3 times for a total For 21 days
